Being gay is about sexual preference. If it just involves sex, it's just going against preference in a very intimate matter. grave, but not worldshattering. If it involves any sort of humiliation, it sucks, no matter if gay or straight.

Carrie Bradshaw felt a little jaded about receiving money for sex after realizing the man she slept with thought she was a prostitute (instead of a columnist in New York). The only hell she got was from herself; her friends laughed it off. They told her to swallow her pride just and take the damn money.
