  • Hell... I'd give the MVP to Jagr.

    • Of course you would. Damn Easterners don't watch enough Kipper.

He's just unreal. Look at the couple games he didn't play in the past few months...both were 6+ GA and losses.

      He's absolutely the MVP.

      • If we are talking about players who, without them their teams would be in last place, then I'd vote for Elias . Or Hell, Sakic, for the Boy who called East Coast Bias.

As for Jagr... look at who else is on that team... and tell me that isn't massively impressive what he's done this year. There isn't a teammate within 40 points of him!

        • Honestly, Elias and Sakic don't nearly have the biggest impact on their teams compared to Kipper...

As For Jagr... Look At Who Else Is On That Team... And Tell Me That Isn't Massively Impressive What He's Done This Year.
The award isn't for being impressive, it's for being the most valuable player to their team. I think the Rangers would do decently without him, but they are certainly better off with him.

There Isn't A Teammate Within 40 Points Of Him!
There isn't a Calgary Flame within 60 points of him!

And yet Calgary has the same amount of points as the Rangers.

Why? Kipper. That's why he's MVP.

          • Actually it somewhat disgusts me that you'd say Elias or Sakic would rank for MVP before Kipper.

You clearly don't watch enough of the West to understand who is a candidate or not.

              • fact - the Flames blow chunks without Kipper and are still a better team with Kipper than the Sharks are with Thorton.

The only two serious contenders for MVP this year are Jagr and Kipper. That's the general consensus, really, depending if you're from the east or west coast.

What's a boy in Switzerland know?

Have you SEEN the record the Devils had before and after Elias joined the team in late December?!

The award isn't for being impressive, it's for being the most valuable player to their team.

Yeah, which can mean a whole lot of things to the voters... like being the best player in the league... which is the person who usually gets the award. After all, how much has Jagr lifted up his unimpressive teammates? You think Nylander gets 78 points without having Jagr on his team?

Though you can cry and yell all you want when Kipper doesn't win the award.

Which is shameful. That's not what the award is for.

Have you seen the record the Flames had before Kipper joined the team? Missed the playoffs for years.

Have you seen the record this year for the Flames when he doesn't play? Sub-500.

Kipper is the MVP, no question. Jagr is great -- for sure -- but their team still functions without him. Ditto for Elias.

The main difference is there is lots of talented offense on NJ and NYR, so their "best" players improve what's already good to make the team a bit better. For Calgary, when you get rid of Kipper, everything falls apart. He is the MVP.

                    • What was NJ's record before Elias came back again?

But that's beside the point. Everyone knows Jagr is winning it... and probably pretty easily.

                      • People in the East say Jagr, people in the West say Kipper.

East will win because that's where most of the ****ing sportswriters live.

It's unfortunate, because they have no idea what they're talking about.
