      Ovechkin isn't a very good team player. I'm not big on showboats, hotdogs, or however you want to call it.

      I'm all about the understated team players -- Phaneuf and Kipper come to mind.

          He has 51 assists on an absolutely terrible team. Need he play goalie as well?

          45% of Washington's goals are either scored by him or assisted by him.

            We're still terrible now. We'll keep getting new mini-Ovechkins until we don't suck anymore.

              He's an amazing player but he just rubs me the wrong way. Must be the evil Russian vibe and the stupid tinted visor.

                  You're still a moron who asserted that "Ovechkin isn't a very good team player."

                  He's third among LWs in assists. Marian Straka leads with 54, and Ovechkin has 51. (That's 20 more than Iginla, 17 more than Langkow, 23 more than Phaneuf.)

                      23 more than a rookie defencemen on a team with one of the lowest GF in the league is an accomplishment?

                      There's far more to team playering than getting assists. Defensively Ovechkin sucks, he's been benched by his coach as well for not obeying team policy for shift durations.

                          As long as the GM remains stupid, they sure will.

                          The Caps have zero quality goalies in their system. You need a quality goalie to go anywhere in today's NHL -- just ask Edmonton.

                              The refs (and other parts of the officiating) are driving me nuts.

                              Goals aren't goals. Finishing a check is interference. Hitting a guy's stick is hooking.

                              I'm trying to be patient, and telling myself that the officiating is having growing pains (new rules and inexperience from new officials for the 2 ref system) but it's having a major impact in enjoyment of the game for me.

                                I agree. The "goals aren't goals" thing especially has cost Calgary a stanley cup. After such blunders in games of such magnitude, it's amazing they aren't employing technology to help the situation.

                                Preparations for tonight's decisive seventh game of the Stanley Cup final between the Calgary Flames and the Tampa Bay Lightning were overshadowed yesterday by a fierce controversy over whether the Flames should actually have won the Cup Saturday in Calgary.

                                During the third period on Saturday, with the game tied 2-2, Mr. Gelinas drove to the Tampa net and redirected a pass with his skate. According to television replays, the entire puck crossed the goal line before colliding with the pad of Tampa goaltender Nikolai Khabibulin and bouncing back out. NHL officials chose not to review the incident and Tampa went on to win the game 3-2 in double overtime.
