Vancouver's as good as gone.

Edmonton will be in the playoffs probably, but Vancouver might finish the season with more wins. But because overtime losses count for +1 points in the standings, Edmonton will probably end up getting into the playoffs at the 8th spot.

That's so stupid... the team with more wins should get into the playoffs.

I mean, there are still games left to play, but there are scenarios that could have Vancouver getting more wins and Edmonton getting into the playoffs. It's likely it could play out that way.

The problem isn't OT losses giving a point; it's that OT/SO guarantees 3 points across two teams.

Wins should be worth 3 points, OT/SO win 2 points, OT/SO loss 1 point.

It should just be wins... nothing else should matter. Like the NFL. Then have the normal tie-breakers if necessary to determine playoff positioning.

You should get something for not losing in regulation.

Please don't taint the NHL with NFL nonsense.

Why?

All that matters is who won the game.

Wins should matter. Not being mediocre and getting stalemates, then not being able to pull through in the end.
