  • The squeaky wheels get some grease! I was less than thrilled with the new fantasy baseball stattracker, and wrote in to complain about it. The response I got revealed a wonderful trick that you can apply to the fantasy baseball and hockey stattrackers. This trick circumvents the browser opening that small window and instead uses the whole browser display for the stattracker. If you hate scrolling like me - this is very welcome news.

Before using the link be sure you've logged into the pool normally. Then just paste the appropriate address below into the browser location instead of clicking the normal stattracker link

Here is the 'magic' address for our pool:

    Hockey: Apolyton

    Cheers!

      • The battle continues to be tough, but I think I edged out a better night on skater stats... this time.

Kipper had merely very good numbers tonight as well, so maybe there is hope for goalie stats.

        • btw, I'm not fond of the 'dump everybody' strat to win a final week. I know it's the right thing to do, but I'll be damned if I'll dump Hasek to get a few extra skating games. It just seems... wrong.

Any opinions on stats we might add next year to make it more interesting?

          • I think goalie wins would be a great addition. I wouldn't mind seeing game winning goals or short handed points too. Also, I'm sure we'll see an option for shootout goals next year.

            • I was thinking goalie wins would be very good. Less temptation to win three and put them on the bench. Also lend a reason to having a third goalie and not stacking up on a single team (me and then KH).

It would also lend more depth to the draft.

              • SH points would be interesting as a skilled alternative to PiMs.

                • I didn't see much point in holding onto a G I plainly wasn't going to play. Boston doesn't have any weak games down the stretch, had among the fewest games remaining, and Thomas has not been playing as well recently.

Just like in any sports championship, there's no sense in leaving anything in the tank. Bring it on, man!

All stats are still up for grabs - it's a long way to April 18th. I'm very happy its so close - makes it fun and exciting.

I'll second adding the W category - it's too easy to ride defensive teams' Goalies, who do well in the other stats most nights despite not always getting the win.

Not sure about any Shootout stats though - too flukey.

Dropping to one goalie is within the rules. I don't fault you for it, and the skater stats are far from over with Danny and Jaro still to play 7 or so each..

But what if next year we observe the max 40 moves rule?

I don't think I needed 65 moves to feel I had a team. In fact fewer moves might have had me more interested in trades.

                    • Max 40 moves?!? That handicaps people who have a poor draft or get too many injuries. It also would work in favour of the more experienced pool players and against the less experienced ones. Not to mention providing an edge to those who just don't participate.

Personally, I enjoy making moves and trying to pick up hot players - its part of the enjoyment I get from pools. It often shoots me in the foot, but its how I play.

                      • Well yeah, I've done the same. 65 moves. Pick up Gonchar for a day because he looks good, I'm in a tight playoff, and he gets two goals. Scooore! Then drop him for the next guy.

I haven't done it as much as you, but I've moved players when the ties were tight.

I guess I'm wondering if he who sits over the stats pages and moves day by day should be winning, and by that I criticise myself more than anyone else, since I've done it and I've led through the whole year.

I don't see how it would benefit the more experienced players. We only have three teams over 40 moves. You, me, and Asher's team before he quit (Ninot has not made that many moves, most were made by Asher).

This is my first ever Yahoo FHL. I'm not that experienced, but I spent some time to see which players could help me win certain weeks, and this week more than any other...

                        • In the mean time, bring it on!

This final is by these rules.

I'll be there, but I think I'll try to keep Hasek on as a bit of poetry to puncuate the season with. And besides, he could start any given game and get a shutout.

                          • I'd definitely say we should have goalie wins next year. I'm kinda on the fence about having straight points as a stat too. On the one hand, it sucks when you have players tear it up a week in assists, but maybe lose goals by one - say you get 8 goals and 27 assists, and your opponent gets 9 goals and 10 assists, but you end up getting a point each out of that. On the other hand, I guess that's part of what makes it more exciting. In the end, I'd probably leave it the way it is, though, so that you're forced to consider taking both goal scorers and set-up men in the draft and beyond.

I'd be in favor of shortening or dropping the waiver period, and maybe restricting the number of moves to something people can generally agree on. I'm also keen on getting a group of people who are actually going to stick with it the whole season, instead of having half the league drop out shortly after the season starts.

                            • You listed five people who had a problem with the trade, out of the first five to comment.
You left out the comments where I made it clear that Boo accepted the trade for the wrong reasons, and offered to undo it immediately after I told him so.

No surprise, really, because that's your style to lie by omission, if not directly.

Whether people thought it was a fair trade or not was independent of people taking issue with Boo's reasoning, which I also made it clear I disagreed with.

Stop lying through your teeth, notyoueither, especially when everyone here knows better.

The simple facts are you and joncha thought it was a really bad trade and thought you were smarter than Boo so you decided to throw hissy fits about it. It turned out to be a lot fairer than you thought, as I actually ended up on the raw end of that deal, but you can't seem to comprehend that.

Its the same IRL - when one person is attentive, works hard and reaps rewards while another person just coasts along and does average, we generally don't penalize the successful one (other than with taxes ;-) ) and try to limit opportunity for them to the about the same amount as the average bloke ends up using.
