    What's with the G-d btw?
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?

If you capitalise it, the term refers to a specific god, most often the Judeo-Christian god YHWH.

How does that go together with his gf being very upset and threatening to dump him, if he doesn't go to church?

Well, believers are not supposed to marry unbelievers. So if he chooses not to go to church, and church is an important part of her life, then yes, I think she's justified in dumping him. Look at Snoopy, it isn't good for him to act against his conscience, so why would it be good for her to act against her own?

What I meant is more along the lines, of leave your family, don't socialise or spend time with anyone who does not go to this church, give them all your money, that sort of thing. None of those features I see in this church, it is just a rather successful evangelical protestant group that is close to the Pentecostals.

Indirectly, yes... chances are that if a woman finds you stellar in bed, it's because she already feels like you're stellar in life. Sex is more about the connection you have with the person than pure technique.

A minister, a priest and a rabbi went for a hike one day. It was very hot. They were sweating and exhausted when they came upon a small lake. Since it was fairly secluded, they took off all their clothes and jumped in the water.

Feeling refreshed, the trio decided to pick a few berries while enjoying their "freedom." As they were crossing an open area, who should come along but a group of ladies from town. Unable to get to their clothes in time, the minister and the priest covered their privates and the rabbi covered his face while they ran for cover.

After the ladies had left and the men got their clothes back on, the minister and the priest asked the rabbi why he covered his face rather than his privates. The rabbi replied, "I don't know about you, but in MY congregation, it's my face they would
                      recognize.""

Historically the "tetragrammaton" - Yud hey vuv hey "yahweh" was considered a holy name by the Jews, and at least in the second temple period was only pronounced aloud by the high priest, and only on special occasions. The term adonai (my lord) was substituted. When vowels were added to Hebrew texts (in the 9th c CE) the vowels added for the name were those used to pronounce Adonai, to remind the reader to do so. This led some gentile readers of the Hebrew text to pronounce the name Jehovah, which is , apparently, incorrect.

At some point (im not sure exactly when) even the name Adonai became taboo - one can say it when praying, or in similar religious contexts, but not casually, not even when making a "casual prayer" Instead one says "hashem" (lit. "the name") The custom has aslo arisen among observant Jews of not spelling out in English the word "God" but writing "G-d'"instead. This is only a custom, but I prefer to respect Jewish customs that I have no particular reason to break with.

And of course Ive used many forbidden names in the above, for the sake of teaching ("le maan chinuch")

A lot of Christians go and shut themselves away.

This is definitely not Christs wishes.

Although, it does say in the Bible not to be unequally yoked. And obviously it is a source of potential problems.

You don't see difference between the situations, but there is.

Snoopy is not saying his gf to go to church or do anything else against her belief.

His gf is saying that he must go to church, or she would dump him, which is against Snoopy's belief.

So basically, while any of them has all justification to do how he wants with his beliefs, none of them has any justification to extend his beliefs unto other forcefully.

                                Do you agree?
