IRONY OF IRONIES: 'museum of tolerance' on Muslim graves...
Problem is, that his avatar can be much more offensive to people of similar mindsets but different backgrounds. For example, it's an attack on me, even though I am an atheist.
I would prefer that MOBIUS's avatar be removed because I sometimes browse Apolyton from school, and I don't particularly want Nazi symbols on my screen when people pass by.
Somehow I get the sense MOBIUS doesn't really give a damn about what other people prefer, though.

Actually they do, since everything offends someone - it's only the things that offend a lot of people we're getting sensitive about.
And that's indeed the case when the offense is done for the sake of offense or provocation, or whatever. However, when you try to make a political point, this is not the case.
Political freedom trumps these sensitivities by a long shot.
As for the west, anyone reprinting those cartoons is guilty of gross provocation, sure there is freedom of speech but you must know where to draw the line to deliberate incitement of the throwing petrol on a raging fire kind...
I obviously don't defend what the extremists have done, but this sort of arrogance in the face of common sense on the part of the newspapers has played right into their hands...

Interesting if this was also your opinion about the incident where Mohammed Al-dura was shot. Would you also label that as "throwing petrol", especially when it isn't clear who fired the bullets that hit Mohammed.

Yeah, where's that CyberGnu guy, he was the middle east debater with more stamina
HOw funny, I thought exactly the same.
Btw, I actually once almost managed to get Gnu to admit he had lots of opinions, but very little knowledge and was mostly 'rage posting', in a long chat we had on ICQ.
It's tricky to claim that a poster has fled the scene of an embarrassing thread. The poster could be simply offline for RL reasons. Even if they weren't, they can claim it.
Ah, but it isn't a first. It is usually a pattern. I remember dozens of threads where he did that. Well, not dozens - but a quite a few

Dude, the attention span of the world's public opinion isn't nearly long enough to remember this...
