BTW, it seems the BBC always makes a point of including the phrase "some of the cartoons depict Muhammed as a terrorist" in every article they produce on this topic.

For one thing, it is a stretch since only the one which serves as Az' avatar can truthfully be said to do that. The one with the guy saying "Relax folks, it's only a drawing made by some infidel Southern Jutlander" does not qualify, since it's not at all obvious he is Muhammed, but more likely he's an Arab holding a picture of Muhammed.

But more importantly, is it fair to so stubbornly keep stressing the Muhammed = terrorist angle wrt. the cartoons, when that is clearly not at the center of neither the cartoons as a whole - nor the heart of the current conflict as it unfolds?

Perhaps the BBC thinks that by repeating this piece of misinformation over and over, they can aspire by proxy to create a real-life connection between the two?

It's pissing me off, because I've seen the exact same phrase used in three different articles now.

The caricatures are just a catalyst for this conflict, not the single cause. Many have seen something like this coming for a while. Now the only question if how far it will escalate, or if it will be squelched temporarily somehow.

You could probably have said the same thing about christianity some couple of hundred years ago - making similiar drawings of the pope, jesus or god would probably had the consequence that you were burned at a stake.

There are some muslims sited in europe that acts just as crazy as seen in ME, but the vast majority doesn't. These people simply hasn't entred the 20+ century yet.

I'm not sure how big of deal the drawing a pic of Mohammed is to the Muslims, but Free Speach and Free Press are the cornerstones of the western civilization...

If the Muslims wanted to just attack another aspect of us infidels, then they picked the wrong aspect...
