Upwards of 100 far-left Anarchist radicals ("Autonomists") have been arrested in Hillerød (mentioned earlier) after having caused severe disturbances as part of a larger "anti-racist" demonstration there. The Anarchists were separated by police from the rest of the otherwise duly notified protest, and police started to detain the most violent protesters.

Maybe we should deport some of them to, oh.. Palestine or some place nice where they're free to protest and possibly create a few headlines..

This is just crazy. So Muslims are allowed to depict Jews as baby-eaters and whatnot but if someone draws some caricatures of Muhammed then all hell is loose. These people are like a bunch of 6 year olds.

OTOH, it's interesting to think about what would have happened if JP had originally probed the borders of freedom of expression by publishing equally offensive caricatures of Jews. My guess is that a lot of people at JP would have had to go. There seem to be some double standards on both sides.

After learning of the burned down embassy in Damascus, Jyllands-Posten has decided to cancel a huge company banquet, which were to be held tonight at a large hotel in Ã…rhus. The party had been planned for months, and 600 employees were to attend.

But as soon as Chief Editor Carsten Juste heard about the fire at the Danish embassy in Damascus, the celebration was cancelled.

"Our employees have been looking forward to this for a long time, but we feel now that it would be inappropriate to celebrate" said Carsten Juste.

Yeah, but not if he had drawn caricatures of moses, or yahweh, or somesuch. I think that drawing caricatures of muslims, with stereotypes, is offensive, but I have full right to caricature their religion.

The Danish government urges all Danish citizens to leave Syria immediately.

Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen has had consultations with Austria's Chancellor Wolfgang Schüssel, who currently chairs the EU, over the embassy burning. The Prime Minister said that the matter has now taken on "a wider European perspective".

The Danish Foreign Ministry says "additional political measures" are being considered, and that Foreign Minister Per Stig Møller will be issuing a statement later tonight.

I think that the Finnish government should apologize for and on behalf of the Danish government. Not about this case, but simply in general.
