Agathon, are guilds allowed to advertise as 'Christian friendly?'
I'm not sure, but they should certainly be allowed to for exactly the same reason as the gay friendly guilds.

Having overtly religious guilds is banned, but I think having guilds based on a lot of things (including sexual orientation and race) is also banned. I can see circumstances in which such guilds should be allowed, but allowing people to advertise "X friendly" guilds would seem to be sufficient.

In other news... Blizz is doing some soul searching about this, so the fags may win...

I may reinstate myself and join the pride parade.

They don't. No one seriously believes that.

Just so y'know Ben... WoW costs US$15 a month and you cannot play it offline.

Fireball394 wrote with a link to an article on the site 'In Newsweekly'. The article, entitled "Blizzard of GLBT gaming policy questions", discusses the application of a harassment warning on a player who was recruiting for a GLBT guild. From the article: "In her follow-up letter to the company, And...

well, it's nice to know that there are some games that accept homosexuals, and even let them enjoy themselves in the game...

It was thinking like that which hamperted African-Americans in travelling across the South before 1963. Not hotel would provide them with a bed; no restaurant would feed them.

Q: Why would a business turn away customers who wanted to pay?

                  I've no idea.

Blizzard has clarified it so that their current policy is to no longer allow people to even mention homosexuality in general chat, for fear that they might be flamed.

                  Blaming the victims....

It's a shame. It's a good game, but if games like City of Heroes can go out of their way to be accommodating to minority players, there doesn't seem to be any reason why WoW can't be.

It's about minority rights. Qua that, it's the same issue.

I guess you don't understand, since your posts indicate no understanding of minority rights anyway.

Why is there any morally relevant difference between a company like Wal Mart discriminating against its black customers (although they don't AFAIK), and a company like Blizzard discriminating against its gay customers?

Please answer that question. I'm interested to see what you come up with.

                              You know what though...

Blizzard would kick heterosexual people out if they talked about homosexuality in general chat.

                              So technically it's not discrimination.

Is there a "litmus test" of sorts when you log on to the game that says "ARE YOU GAY"? And it will prevent you from logging on if you answer "Yes"?

                              Didn't think so.
