A) They probably feel threatened by the anti-terror alliance the U.S. is signing with Russia in the show. The hostage incident at the airport was an attempt to derail the summit.

I remember a comment from one of the terrorists that now they would take care of the poeple back home. But they couldn't possibly get them back to Russia inside the 24 hour time limit. I thought at first it would be an excuse to kick some butt in mother Russia.

It's never clear-cut like this without it being some type of swerve (witness Gael in Season 3). Of course, whether he's truly evil or not, Cummings is headed for failure. If I'm Martha, I'm using this day as grounds for divorce once it's all over. Assuming Bumbling Idiot Logan even survives the day, of course. (At this rate, he's going to walk right into a terrorist trap.)

I think that Walt is helping the terrorist because he did not want the anti terrorist alliance with Russia signed and I think he thought that since President Logan is such an idiot he would cave in to the terrorist demands. Little did he know that Jack and CTU would mess that up. Of course I could be wrong, but we will find out tonight.
