While Konnigsberg was seen as the center of Prussia, eventually that was east Prussia- I mean, the area of Brandenburg was part of the Kingdom of Prussia since at least the 30 years war.

What about the imperial palace? There's a reason the Russians wanted control over the former capital of Prussia. Anyone who has family in the Russian controlled area is really out of luck trying to trace their history. There is something creepy about a culture that goes on and completely renames every town, stream and lake after occupying the land. All the names were Lithuanian/Prussian and were only Germanised (Like Krakow-Krakau and Wroclaw-Breslau) after 500 or so years of German rule. The Russians renamed everything into Matrosskyi, Sovetsk and other fugly soviet sh|te names. That scares me.Originally posted by GePap
