There's also the small issue that while white babies with no physical or mental health issues are quite likely to get adopted, the demand falls off rather precipitiously if you're dealing with anything else.

Speaking of adpotions i have been watching this program adoption stories and have come to the conclusion that the show is a fairy tale. I watched and watched and saw that all the folks protrayed here have money to be spent on the adoption process. I often wonder if a person of a middle income to a poorer income will be as sucessful at adopting. Seems the poorer folks are always foster parents and get to adopt the hard to place kids rather then the pick and choose kind like the wealthier folks. Though i have never herd the folks complian when they get a child they can love i am sure they would also like a cuddly baby.

my family was poor, and my parents adopted 3 of my siblings

my three siblings were all abused as young young children.. (Raped, Neglected, etc)

of course, my parents wanted troubled kids..

Read my earlier post on the criteria. It is enough to be a living human being to be considered a person. Any other criteria, are no different then the earlier ones our society used to believe, such as sex and race. If you weren't the right one of either, you were less than a person in the eyes of the law.

As far as your sonograms geez i was talking bout how many you actully saw in person.

Does it matter whether you have seen one in person? I don't think so. I'm not in the position to have one at my disposal, and like most folks, I have to rely on the work that other people have done. Also, you don't need to rely on just this one series, there are plenty embryology textbooks that use these same pictures to teach people about prenatal development.

I dont think anyone can get a detail out of a still songraphic pic. What you have to understand is that pic is subject to personal visuizalition and interpertation. IE a pic of a sonogram seems to show a fetus sucking thumb when it could actually be just the fetuses hand is up near its mouth with no finger in the mouth. Personal interpertattion.

Have you heard of the new 4D ultrasounds? They allow us to see movement too. Granted, one can come to any conclusion, but when we observe similar behaviour between newborns and the unborn, it leads to the conclusion that there cannot be much difference between the two. If we saw a picture of a newborn with his thumb in his mouth, wouldn't we automatically conclude that he was sucking his thumb?

I dont think it can really be proven the fetus actualy has a thumb in its mouth and if it can the fetus is far beyond the legal means of an abortion.

Actually in the US, abortion is legal throughout all nine months of pregnancy. Of course that doesn't mean all doctors will perform the late ones, but when we are having a debate right now over whether the ban on partial birth abortions should be overturned, then it doesn't make sense to say that this is beyond the legal means.

Whereas the number of children adopted in total in the US is only 120 thousand every year, and has dropped since the 70's. So I would say that there is a greater demand to adopt kids then there are kids to adopt, even as it is true that there will be always kids who do not end up adopted.

As for the orphanages, I would have thought you would have referred to the total in foster care, which has risen dramatically.

No, but if you believe that mothers and fathers are different and have different roles with respect to their children, then it is wrong to deprive the child of one if there are alternatives.
