Even if they field a reserve team? When I say reserve team, I'm not being cute. I mean it. We had Keller in at goal. Berhalter, Bocanegra, and Cherundolo at the back. Beasley on the wing. Aside from that EVERY player was a reserve guy. Some of whom haven't played for the USMNT for a while (like Eddie Gaven).

And even with a reserve team, the US had 57% of the possession.

However, while we are on the subject of a team ranked higher beating a team ranked lower... you'd think a England squad, fielding its 1st team, would be able to beat Northern Ireland significantly both times they faced them, don't you think?

I don't care about England. As long as Owen makes it through all his games uninjured, then how England do doesn't matter to me at all. However, I do love footie, so will watch any televised game regardless of who's playing (case in point: Sunderland v Scum - who should lose this?).

I didn't mean to troll (for which we still haven't got a smiley ), but just to point out how ridiculous the FIFA ranking system is. There is no way that the US are better than England, Spain or Germany, to name just 3 you are ranked above.

Ron Vlaar was being tested (and failed miserably, of course), obviously Van Basten wouldn't have put him there for a real match. He's only 19 and has played like what, 5 matches in the first team of his club?

We put up a reserve team anyway, we were missing like 7 or 8 first team players due to injuries and stuff. Van der Sar and Van Bronckhorst were the only players on the field with any real experience (and Van der Sar was substituted at half time so Van Basten could test Timmer as well).

And no, there's not a chance in hell I'm gonna miss another World Cup final, even if the Netherlands wouldn't have qualified.
