Actually the way I've heard it the Midwest accent is general american english. There could be a lot more distinctions in here. Pure Chicagoans have a definite accent, Texans don't sound the same as other Southerners (and I've heard that people from the Tex-arkana area talk gibberish), people from New Orleans and the surrounding area have a distinct way of talking, there's also a northern rural accent, and certain areas on the west coast sound different.

I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

This quiz was useless for me, I've lived in Boston for all my life and scored very low. As for Dixie, jeez must be from my dads side, they're a bunch of redneck farmers from the south. *hums Redneck Past* Also around town people confuse me for a Canadian or Brit...
