You write 'tricky to get Finland from the Russians' on your post and at the same time play the good guy. What is that supposed to be, some kind of sick joke?

Well, what is it supposed to mean? Whose side are you on, son? Don't you love freedom and democracy? Then how about getting with the program?
Why don't you jump on the team and come in for the
big win? We're taking Karelia back and kill bunch of people while at it so I say sattle up cowboy or go home and STAY HOME!

In Vicky there are events which merge Norway, Sweden, and Denmark forming Scandinavia. They also get claims on Finland and Finnish as one of their state cultures but the problem is the Russians don't want to let the Finns go.

You either have to try to buy Finland off Russia, hope the Finns revolt from Russia, or (my favorite) liberate Finland from the evil Russian oppressors. You can try to Karelia too but it is hard to beat the Russians so badly they'll give up provences they have cores on.

Sounds like a sick communist game to me this Vicky does. Sick, sick game.

Here in the southernmost part of Sweden, we're a bit stuck between the countries. To the Swedes up north we are "damn danes" and to the Danes in the west we are "damn swedes".

My only answer to this, we're "damn scanians".
It's candy. Surely there are more important things the NAACP could be boycotting. If the candy were shaped like a burning cross or a black man made of regular chocolate being dragged behind a truck made of white chocolate I could understand the outrage and would share it. - Drosedars

I know the feeling. When I lived in Helsinki, I was 'stadilainen' for everyone outside Helsinki. Kind of like New Yorker to everyone else, rude, always in hurry, hates everyone outside their city etc...

To south, there's estonia, we were drunk idiots who only goes to prossies. To East and Russians we were big racists, who hates them no matter what. To West, well to you, we are Finns, drunk bastards. To North, Sami people, we are rapers and pillagers and idiots.

Now that I moved to Turku, it's still the same, except that now everyone even in Helsinki doesn't like me because I'm from here .

But it's ok. I hate everyone else too in return.

To the commander who gave up the Sveaborg (Soumenlinna) fortress on the first day, without even putting up a fight. Things would have looked very different if he wasn't such a traitor. The Finns could have an independence referendum or something later, like the Norse did.

It's like the officer in Poltava who had 1000's of well rested cavallery who were eager to fight, hidden in a forest. But he surrendered because he was trapped between the river and a few 1000 Russian infantry. He could easily have broken out of the encirclement and saved the rest of the army, but he choosed to give up without a fight, leaving the King and his badly bruised army to flee for their life. The Swedish great power never recovered.

If Sweden lost its great power status because of one battle it never really deserved to be considered a great power in the first place.

I guess the King stretched the supply lines too far, going all the way to Ucraine when the target was Moscow.

Oh come on, all the n00bs just kept joining the opposite team, hard to play a fair game that way

The Great Northern War was the war fought between a coalition of Russia, Denmark-Norway and Saxony-Poland (from 1715 also Prussia and Hanover) on one side and Sweden on the other side from 1700 to 1721.
