If youre strictly observant yes, that would be considered "work". Certainly the carrying of the feed would be so considered.

unless the park is inside an eruv.

Kindness, mercy, and compassion, yes--to humans, to their citizens. I'm not against animal rights, but when resources are scarce, it's the government's responsibility to be humane to its citizens, not it's citizens property.

There no reason being humane should be defined as being just related to humanity. In fact its a commendable ideal to hold up against every aspect of everything in life.

I guess I dont see pets as property, but as dependents.

Sometimes it happens that a gentile is born with a Yiddishe neshumah. Look it up.

It's an exceptionally long-lived dinosaur. Point? Like a Galapagos Tortoise.

Joking aside, pets are, at the very least, a responsibility......you should always do your best by them.

Tax dollars should not go to pet evacuation. I say this as one who has an abnormal emotional attachment to my dog. Of course, I also believe in limited government on all fronts, but that's another matter.

Regardless of the tax/legislative issues, there is no good reason why local/state/federal agencies in charge of evacuation cannot try to organize something with the various Humane Societies to help get these animals to safety (in cases where the owners can't take them, which is optimal). The Humane Societies are happy to volunteer their efforts, and it would greatly ease the jangled nerves of evacuees forced to abandon their furry loved ones.

As an individual, I believe I have the right to choose to rescue my pet over another human. I recognize that other individuals have that same right, and can pass me by to save their pets, if they so choose.

My dog is not just a pet, he's family. He is not "replaceable" like my car or house; when he is gone there will never be another like him.

I also recognize other individual's right to think I'm a raving lunatic or complete moron. Doesn't change the fact I wouldn't abandon my dog.

Ok are we back to talking bout pets?? If there is a fund to be granted to evacuate the animals then great. Some pets deserved to be rescued more then some adult humans. it was mentioned abotu a neighbor and my pet will if i was in a boat and the said neighbor is and has been a real jackass all my time there id hand him the neighbor a life jacket and let him hang on the boat and let my dog who i have had for 7 years who has never been a jerk ride in the boat

I'd respect you for that, Mrs. T.

Personal attachment to my dog aside, the general idea that the worst human is still better and more deserving of rescue than the best dog is ludicrous, IMO.

On a slight tangent, does it explicitly say in the Bible, Torah, Koran, Bhagavad-Gita, whatever, that animals don't get to go to heaven? It's just an abstract argument for me (no faith in God or heaven), but I'm curious if someone can enlighten me. I'm sure it says something like "the only way to Heaven is through Me," or somesuch, but does it say, point blank, no beasts in Paradise? I would figure animals, being true innocents, would be a shoe-in for heaven. Who would want to go to a heaven without animals?
