  • The hate is just overwhelming. If you think you can beat Dreamlands delicious sauce... please feel free to send some . I doubt you'll be able to, however.

    • The sauce is decent, true enough, though it pales in comparison to Larry's sauce down in the southeast corner of the state. The thing is that it has to be good, because the meat lacks so much. I've never been to any of the Dreamland s that the ribs, pre-sauce, weren't completey ordinary at best.

I don't hate Dreamland's at all, much less because it originated in that cesspool. Au contraire, most good BBQ joints originate in crappy areas. I just have to shake my head at the notion that they produce the best ribs in Tuscaloosa, much less the state. Hell, I like Mike & Ed's, and to the best of my knowledge, it started there, too. That said, T-town is a dirty, evil place.

Btw, on Larry's, I'll be happy to get you some next time I'm down there. Anything to help a misguided soul see the light.

            • I feel like we're getting clarity in the rankings right now. Most of the top 10 are teams that should be there -- they are really tough football teams.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

Three of mine were up there, and as far as I know, still are. I think they actually started giving out t-shirts instead because of declining wall space. Awfully convenient timing for your stopping by this thread, John.

                    • The Big Ten championship will be determined next week:

If Penn State beats Michigan State, the Nittany Lions are the champs.

If Penn State loses, then the winner of Ohio State-Michigan takes the crown and the BCS bid.

Yeah, I think that won't be too much of problem, seeing how crappy Mich State is. But you never know if Penn State is overconfident.

And congrats Steve Spurrier. You took a crap South Carolina team and have them ranked.

                          • This is typical Michigan State football. There will either get blown out, or they will blow out Penn State. Honestly, there's no easy way to tell what'll happen. But it's been like that for most of my life.

I agree with this. Which Michigan State will we see next week? Nobody knows.
