At no point in those two legs were Everton winning the tie.
Had they been allowed the goal, they wouldn't have been losing.
I don't think you can work on the assumption that the following minutes of the match would have panned out in an identical manner had the goal stood. This not least because of Everton's change in mindset.
I'm not bothered about speculating anyway - if Everton were ever going to qualify they needed luck on their side, starting with the draw.

Hey Imran: http://nufc.com. It says that Owen will be having talks with both Newcastle and Liverpool over a potential transfer.
There's still hope....
Let's just hope that Souness guarantees hima starting place. I've got a feeling he'll say something stupid though.
There is hope, but a sliver. A few more days left.
I'm sure Souness will be giving him a starting space. It seems that Souey wants to move away from a 4-4-2. A 4-3-3 that looks like:
then again, Dyer is still hurt and did play pretty well last year, so perhaps we'll fall into a 4-4-2 with Dyer and Luque as the wings (though it may be a waste of Luque).

England striker Michael Owen has held talks with Newcastle over a possible move to St James' Park.
The 25-year-old Real Madrid frontman met for several hours with Newcastle officials in Northumberland this afternoon, but there was no word from the club about the outcome after talks concluded.
The talks involved Newcastle boss Graeme Souness, skipper Alan Shearer, chairman Freddy Shepherd and his son Kenny, together with coach Dean Saunders.
Owen has revealed he would sooner join his former club Liverpool than Newcastle, and it is understood he was also planning talks with Anfield officials during his trip.
He left Liverpool for Spain in an £8million move just last summer but is keen to return, providing agreement can be reached with Real.
Feyenoord striker Dirk Kuyt has ruled out making a deadline-beating move to the Premiership.
The 25-year-old Holland player was the subject of a failed £10million bid from Everton at the start of August and has reportedly also attracted Liverpool and Tottenham's attention.
However Kuyt, who scored 29 goals in 34 league games last season and has started the new campaign with three in three matches, has now committed to Feyenoord until next summer.
Livorno president Aldo Spinelli claims to have turned down a Tottenham bid for striker Cristiano Lucarelli.
The 29-year-old was last season's top scorer in Serie A with 24 goals.
However Livorno insist they have no intention of selling Lucarelli to Tottenham or any other club.
Striker news all around the Premier League.

Not I. I don't care what lengths the Brits go to confuse others .

Looks like Owen has finally realised no-one better than Newcastle wants him and he's off to St James's Park. At £17M plus his salary I'm not surprised Liverpool didn't sign him. After all they only got £8M plus a player they have since sold for him a year ago.

This probably means Cisse will be staying since Liverpool don't now need the transfer money. I wasn't impressed with him last season but he seems to be playing better this season. Crouch should be back from his hamstring injury when the Premiership resumes after the internationals and a lot will probably depend on whether he proves to be a goalscorer.
I hope Owen has a release clause if they are relegated.

newcastle will be ok now they've got owen, luque will play on the left wing, milner/dyer on the right, owen and shearer up front. they should be aiming for europe now with that lot.
although i can;t help but think that it would have been a lot cheaper just to keep lauren robert in the first place
