two of the more polite chants from the terraces this evening
'what a load of rubbish'
and
'sack the swede'

Wales was an away win in a WC qualifier. NI was admittedly was p1ss poor, but you need to be a able to replace Sven before you sack him...and no *YOU* don't count as a viable applicant! The last thing we need is a poor mans Terry Venables...;O)

Oh lord... these people are funny. US is playing a meaningless WCQ. Bruce Arena is playing all of these young players because we've already qualified. The problem? The baseball game before it went long and the game didn't "join in progress" until the 27th minute.
And utter OUTRAGE... I wonder if the people realize the relative popularity in the US between baseball and soccer. And if they realize that ESPN is going to finish showing a game before moving onto the next thing.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

I recall a time that the CBC cut away from overtime in the Stanley Cup playoffs to go to a curling match.
We lost a broadcaster over that. Dave 'what a way to run a network' Hodge announced the cut away and then spun his pen in the air as he spoke the last words on air he ever would as a CBC employee.
Recently, the Curling Association broke a contract with CBC for broadcasting curling because they didn't show matches to the end, or didn't show entire matches that were very important in the Briar.
My point? Well, I don't really have one other than another blatant attempt to Canadianise as many threads in the OT as possible, and I sure ain't gonna do it by talking football.

Maybe you can make an unlikely bid for the 2018 World Cup.
The point that I came away with from your post is what I was making: You don't cut away from a more popular sport to a less popular sport.
ESPN doesn't cut away from any sporting event really though, so it solves that.

who to replace him with, well someone english, someone with a bit passion, someone who's going to spend more time on the back pages, rather than being a news of the world exclusive every other week. personally i'd like to see big sam allardyce as the next england boss, i can't imagine him letting certain players dictate the system we play or getting caught chasing every bit of skirt at the FA. but if not him then there's always steve mcclaren, steve bruce (even if he does have a big fat head!), alan curbishley or stuart pearce. it's not as if we're short of quality english managers."The Christian way has not been tried and found wanting, it has been found to be hard and left untried" - GK Chesterton.

COckney,
It sums up the dearth of English mangers that you even mention Pearce, he's only been in the job 5 mins! All the rest are managing small, mid-table clubs, all unproven at the very top. It's not all their fault that they arn't getting the chance to manage the big clubs, but the fact remains that they havn't.
The only ones I'd even consider are Big Sam and Curbishly, at least they seem to have the balls to stand up and be counted and bang a few heads together when needed.
Anywho it's pointless talk, weve got Sven 'n' Nancy until next summer whether we like it or not, if he's not there next summer it'll mean we havn't qualified.
