Youre using this as a typical example of "passion" from any latin football fan?
I'm using it as an example of how passionate Latin American fans can be. That it can result in deaths of players. It matters that much to the fans. Now every fan won't turn to shooting or physical violence, but that doesn't mean that it doesn't feel the same to them. Columbia is a bit more violent of a society (they have also dealt with the death of a referee because he made some.. 'bad' calls), but the same passion for the game flows throughout the CONCACAF countries outside of US and Canada (ie, those countries' fans take it personally).
You watch CONCACAF games and you can see how the fans live and die with their teams.
Hell, watch Guatamalan league or the Columbian league and you can see similar things. The Mexican league, obviously, has very rabid fans, especially when CF America plays CD Guadalahara.
