Wow... Owen didn't turn us down!

And we were fools to sell Nobby in the first place .

they should be aiming for europe now with that lot.

Stop that! You'll just jinx us!

I have it on good authority that Newcastle are now serious title contenders.

Oh, and apparently we only spent 7 million pounds, because Real still owe us 10 million for Woodgate (HAW HAW!)

It doesn't sound like such a great bit of business when it's puit like that does it?

Madrid paid less than market value for Owen, but then paid over the odds for a crippple and then sold Owen to the club that sold them the cripple.

Out of Liverpool, Real and Newcastle, the Barcodes have done the best out of the whole situation, they off loaded a crock and have bought a proven goalscorer with the money.

Yeah, I think that's why Newcastle could offer him 17 mil. They had the Woodgate deal as a credit. I think if that wasn't the case, then Newcastle wouldn't be able to give anything close to 17 mil.

If only players could have a release clause from their own stupidity.

He insists (right?) on going to Real. Liverpool suck it up and sell him for a song, because he had them behind the eight-ball.

Liverpool go on to major hardware. Meanwhile he subs on (for an impressive 16 goals, much to his credit) but he still has to go begging to get taken back for 1st team playing time.

Is anyone surprised that Liverpool management told him he could go and screw himself?

I would support that 110%. Solano was consistently one of the toon's best players and a good professional to boot.

                    He was well-liked by everyone.

                      Phhhhhttt!!

My great uncle Billy remembers the last time Newcastle won the league, with the canny Scot Hughie Gallacher leading the charge.

                      Pity Billy is nearly ninety.....

Btw, any good WCQ matches from Europe this weekend? I'm definetly going to be watching US v. Mexico (winner clinches a spot in WC '06, though both will go, and may be a seeded team as a result of the game.... hence my avatar change ). I know England plays some flunky, but that doesn't excite me so much.

                          England vs Wales

I'm gonna miss it 'cause I'll be at a wedding.

Oh and re: Liverpool. I don't think Benitez really wants Owen, his preferred formation hasn't really been one that Owen would fit well into, one up front with a few supporting attacking midfielders. Same reason Owen wouldn't really be suitable for Chelsea... I think Owen wanted to go for that reason, and I think Benitez didn't really push to get him back for that reason.

No need to be sad boys, they are playing Wales... unless you like 3-0(ish) beatings .
