Maybe another teacher would have saved Potter from death. Its not like Potter hasn't falled of his broom like 4 times without yet dying. I mean, falling from even higher when the dementors came for him didn't kill him.

Besides, you get the answer Snape gave.

I say you kill them. Use the Killing Curse and made Voldemort proud. Though I wouldn't blame you if you made them suffer with "Crucio" first .

I'm thoroughly enmeshed in the Potterverse.

                      • In further defense of my theory (and all spoiler tags abandoned at this point):

If Potter is a horcrux (as a result of Riddle's backfiring spells), then that would certainly be a more satisfying explanation for how Riddle was about to completely possess Harry at the conclusion of the duel with Dumbledore in OOTP. We've been hearing of this mysterious link between Harry and Tom since the beginning; couldn't it simply be that Harry is a unfortunate horcrux of an unwilling Tom?

Also, and here I acknowledge that I'm reaching a bit, but let's assume that Nagini is a horcrux as well. That leaves one unknown horcrux, and still no horcrux linked with either Ravenclaw or Gryffindor. What if that last horcrux was an "artifact" of both Founders? Couldn't Harry be a descendant of Ravenclaw as well as Gryffindor?

                        • If Potter was a horcrux, why would the rest of Voldemort's soul be unable to possess him without being in extreme pain?

                          • The whole "magic of love" thing. Honestly, spare me, but that's what we've been given.

                            • Voldemort detests Potter and everything he stands for... Harry's the last person he'd use as a Horcrux.

                              • On another subject...

It will be a mistake for Harry to cut himself off from Ginny, "Spiderman" style. As pointed out several times, one of the things that truly separates Harry from Tom is Harry's ability to love. Granted, he has Ron and Hermione, but Ginny represents another level of that emotion. (And I doubt Ginny will be content to sit in the background anyway.)

Moreover, the "second tier" of Harry's crew (Ginny, Neville, and Luna) have come off rather better than Ron and Hermione in battles with DEs, especially in OOTP. Ron & Hermione's support is important and touching, but I'd rather have those other three in my corner if forced to make a choice: Neville became even more skilled than Hermione in DADA under Harry's tutelage (plus he has more reason than any other to hate Riddle and his lackeys); Luna was the only DA member who came through the Ministry unscathed and, if nothing else, is level-headed in a crisis; and Ginny is not only highly skilled and experienced and Harry's apparent soulmate, she alone has equal insight into being possessed by Riddle.
