Well, why join a religion unless you believe it to be more true than the others? It's not arrogance, rather sincerity. The folks who believe all religions are the same, are most likely not to belong to any of them.

My point is that if all religions preach peace and civility towards one another, isn't that what the Creator intended?

Indeed. One of the things I find particularly outstanding about Christianity, is how explicitly, we are called to love those who do not love us.

The implication of the serpent's lie is that God jealously guards His wisdom and doesn't want anybody to grow and learn. No surprise, that is exactly what atheists and assorted God-haters think the passage means.

Truth be told, if God wanted to keep us from knowing something, he could. 'the glory of God, to conceal a matter, to reveal a matter, the glory of kings.' The fact that he permits us to uncover so much about him, and his creation, is a blessing.
