Overall I have mixed feelings on adult prostitution.
There is part of me that sees it little different than when a hire out the use of my services on a certain basis and for a set fee. If a person wants to sell oral sex as a service, why should they not have that right?? Who am I to say who's cheney someone else may or may not inhale??
But that is an ideal where women are free and able to make free choice .... In far too many cases they are not free and I'm never sure where you draw the line. One woman is a slave and thats wrong. Another is completely impoverished and needs to do it to eat . . . that feels somewhat wrong. Another is lower middle class and does it because it can earn her more money for less time "worked" that any other job she can get-- my sympathy is waning. The last isvery educated and charges high rates and can earn a 6 figure income while being wined and dined in nice places-- not much sympathy .
But I see the inconsistency of it. Leaving aside the enslaved or threatened woman . . . If it is ok for a woman that would otherwise earn say 60 K a to supplement that by prostitution, why is it not ok for a very poor woman to improve her lot as well? It feels less acceptable but should it??
Some people say it is degrading and perhaps it is in many cases but I don't think it needs to be. A person could treat their sex worker with respect.
If a person hires a cleaning lady, that person has to do all sorts of moderately unsavoury things (like cleaning crap)to earn a living but again you can treat them with respect.
