  • Hey, I'm hoping the vote will go in my favour.

(outside semi-trolling/banter it'd be good if England get 5 teams in the competition even if crap teams like ManU and Arsenal never get anywhere in it)

It was only last week that the 'issue was dead' and it was 'CASE CLOSED!'

            • did anyone see him go mental after poland's third, there was a suspicion of offside, but he went off his trolley and at 3-0 down with 5 minutes to go there really isn't much need.

                    • There is a headline that Chelsea's 2005 payroll was 115 million pounds sterling. At today's exchange rate, I think that's a higher payroll than the New York Yankees! That must be the highest payroll in all of sports.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

Not surprising. I think Manure are still the richest team in sports, although I might be wrong. It's all those malaysians buying team shirts.

Depends what you mean by 'richest', I'd rather be Chelsea rich and be able to get the money out on the pitch where it belongs.

Uniteds type of rich has always been overated (esp by its fans), United do well the shares go up and United are 'richer' anf they go out of the CL and all of a sudden they are 'poorer'? Not in my book they're not, it's all just paper.

Only barely. 115 million pounds = 210.218 million dollars, which is only 4 million above the Yankees' $206 million payroll, which is bound to go higher since the Yanks are languishing around .500.

                            • That was Chelsea's budget 2003/2004 financial year though. It'll be more this year probably.

That was a £60m increase on the 2002/2003 season before Abramovich bought them.
