    I miss being Episcopalian.
Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

What's wrong with a Church, or any club or organization, holding standards for who can be a member and who can't be? It isn't anyone's right to be associated with that Baptist Church. If you don't want to conform to their rules, you don't have to be in it.

Churches are not responsible for maintaining such separation; the State is. It would be a rare move indeed for the church to lose tax-exempt status, as pretty much anything goes as long as they don't start putting money in coffers of pols. Churches have always held political stances, there's nothing wrong with that.

And please avoid generalizing? I doubt all baptists are bad people; probably not one in a hundred are bad people. Let the body be judged by the worth of the whole, not by the worth of the single part. Otherwise you might find yourself being judged by a part you are not fond of ...

I'll keep that in mind when America becomes a theocracy.

Hmm. So anything goes just as long as public dollars aren't involved and lives aren't lost?

Most Democrats would find it to be a badge of honor to be officially excommunicated by the corrupt, fascist and very evil Roman Catholic Church.

That was my first thought too.

I absolutely agree. Render unto Caesar, and all that.

Wait, wasn't that said by Mr. God ?

Churches aren't taxed as they are non-profit organizations. Leaders such as Bush are free to get their philosophical views from whatever philosophy they choose.

Sounds more like internal church politics to me. That and some people here eager to join in on a circle jerk or two.

If they don't go to that church then they can go to the one on the next street over. To say they got excommunicated is to win the drama queen award for the week. Congrats
