If you knew anything about how textbooks need government approval in Japan, and how the government censors books that try to tell the truth about what happen, then you would realize how foolish your comment is.

      Come on Kid.

Why must you insult the Chinese so much? Can you not treat them as human beings like yourself? And I'm not talking about the government. I'm talking about peo-ple who were victims of Japanese atrocities during the war.

How would you feel if your grandparents had been murdered by Japanese troops?

      • Actually, from a democracy point-of-view, these demonstrations may actually demonstrate to the anti-commies that they can organize protests in communist China. Perhaps Shanghai will be the first truly democratic (other than Hong Kong or Taiwan) part of China.

You are unbelievable. I wouldn't participate in crap like this for political and economic reasons if 60 years ago some people who were probably dead already had killed my grandparents whom I had never met.

          • This isn't the only thread where you've shown blind loyalty toward China and attacked other posters because of it. I'm only surprised a mod has never intervened.

Why are you surprised? The only mod who cares about threads like this acts in the same way...

They no longer have villagers rioting against the CCP nor are the people protesting corruption and cronyism like they were last month. Now everyone is China is wrapped up in a nationalist hatefest against Japan. It seems the CCP got exactly what it wanted.

I believe you have been asked to back up this claim previously in this thread. Can you cite one case where the Japanese government censored or prevented the publication of textbooks like you have claimed?

                • He sort of did, when he mentioned Ienaga Saburo.

At what cost, though? It seems like their planned venting of anger has gotten a bit out of control and has now adversely affected relations with Japan. I doubt the Chinese authorities wanted this to become the diplomatic incident it has become...

Economics? How do the protesters benefit economically by voicing complaints about the cover up?

And it seems your solution is to forget the truth. You support the re-writing of history to cover up crimes?

Do you not see the hypocrisy in condeming China for covering up its crimes while then saying it is okay for Japan to do the same thing.

Just as China must acknowledge things like Tianamien Square, so must the Japanese acknowledge the numerous slaughters it committed during WWII.

                      No, you are quite wrong.

Protests against corruption continues. See the thread started by mindseye.

Up to 2,000 retired soldiers of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) have staged protests in Beijing, a police officer and a foreign Web site said yesterday, just days after large-scale anti-Japanese street rallies nationwide.

Ienaga Saburo fought against Japanese censors for 30 years, achieving a partial victory in 1997. As a result of his work to have Japanese textbook reflect the truth of the war, a rightist group created the textbook that has sparked the latest protests.

                        • As long as we're talking about things that are wrong in Asia I thought I'd link to Korea's newest music sensation. I'm still trying to figure out what to make of this.

Exactly, which is why the Japanese authorities won't censor this conservative history book now.
