  • I've just seen the 'apologies' from both players, neither of them looked in the least bit sincere.

They both gave pretty much the same speel, "sorry to the fans, team mates, manger" etc. They both made a point of not apologising to each other.

        Of course...

...there'll be lots of hand wringing by the press and people who hate football, but it's no big deal.

What else can the ref do?

David Batty and Graeme Le Saux got done for the same thing a few years back. It happens..

So it should be allowed, or even encouraged?

Why not? They'll pick up the people who miss the NHL this season.

                • I can envisage both of them playing for Newcastle again. They're top-class players and they don't come along very often.

                    • Everything? It's violence. Doesn't matter that it's your own team mate. That fact just makes the players involved all the more retarded.

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?

Yep. You gotta throw out players who engage in violent behavior. No matter who it is against. After being pulled apart, I'm sure either would have had a go against anyone who looked at them funny, their own team or the other.
