every team has one game where things dont go their way. france had their's against us when they completely dominated and didnt score. we've had ours when we almost lost to cyprus, but somehow managed to win. you guys have yet to have yours, but dont worry, you WILL get yours, hopefully at the hands of the swiss. you cannot keep on scoring in the final minutes of every game and hope to tie it up. enjoy the comfy confines of Berne when you come here
we will have a huge reception party with a full stadium, and our two world class strikers Alexander Frei and Johan Vonlanthen, along with a goalie whose made some unbelievable saves and who is MVP so far of the team, Zuberbülher. sure, we've got some work to do, but by sept 3rd, dont worry, all the kinks will be ironed out and we will break your hearts

hey have you guys checked out matchcast on the official fifa website? its a bit like what they have for mlb games online. its limited, but they had france- israel on it
. I'll definetly use it for future games which are not on TV!

Ireland will beat Switzerland at home. Case closed.Jon Miller: MikeH speaks the truth

You're screwing up the math somewhere. Ireland and Switzerland currently both have 9 points from 5 matches. In the remaining 5 matches, they both play exactly the same opponents (only in a different order, obviously) and each other. In club competitions the order of matches can make a difference but international matches are much too far apart. So their chances of qualifying are EXACTLY equal (except that Switzerland has a slightly better goal difference), it all hinges on their performances against France and each other (assuming they don't screw up against Israel, but I don't expect they will).Originally posted by Lawrence of Arabia
we can assume that ireland beats cyprus, they will have 18 pts in 9 matches, switzlerland will have 18 pts in 8 mathces. switzlerland only has to win one out of the two remaining games to go on, while ireland needs to beat switzerland. switzerland can play for the tie against both france (at home) AND ireland, and still qualify.
I personally think France and Ireland will go through, but it *is* very tense and everything is still to possible, even for Israel...

i would disagree - switzerland plays france oct 8th and ireland oct 12th. thats only 4 days or rest. you can see how well we played with 4 days of rest last time - we barely beat cyprus after playing france. so that will adversely affect switzerland. the only plus is that they play at home on oct 8th, which gives them a better chance of winning. out of the top three teams we play, we only play ireland away (israel and france both play in switzerland) which gives us the edge in that area.In club competitions the order of matches can make a difference but international matches are much too far apart."Everything for the State, nothing against the State, nothing outside the State" - Benito Mussolini

also, barthez may be suspended. hes being investigated by the french football association (but knowing the french and the desperate straights they are in, they wont pull the trigger)
they already blew their load on us tho - they hyped themselves up like no other, and then they end up blowing their lead and we tied it. we were missing frei and spycher and a bunch of other players while ireland had a full squad. plus roy keane got a yellow card for playing out of control. They choked on us in '96 but they kicked our arses in '02. That's a Swiss problem then, I never noticed any other countries suffering from that. E.g. Israel had no trouble with France just 4 days after Ireland. And last year the Netherlands beat Scotland with 6-0 just 4 days after losing 1-0. They get a week off in the run-up to both matches, you gotta have a pretty poor team conditionally to not be able to play two matches in 4 days.Originally posted by Lawrence of Arabia
