Yes i would, but most of them don't.

There was a minor political stink here a few years ago, some MP said immigrants (and their decendants)should take the 'cricket test' to see if they were really British. Meaning that if you still supported the 'old' country you had failed the test.

And that is what Az was saying... the Mexicans in the US suck if they don't support their country . Same thing with you. You want them to back the country they are a part of, rather than their old ancestoral homes.

      • But why do you want them to? Shouldnt we let them support whoever they want?

            • Because, you chose to live in the new country, you shouldn't hold onto the 'old country'. It's distasteful. I find it bad that my parents do it. Why move to a country if you pine for the old country? Just to take its money? Bah!

              • So if I move to the US for better pay or a better quality of life, it means I have to support the US over England now? No thanks.

Yep. If you just want to be English, stay in England . Though it is more understandable that being born and raised in a country and backing a country that you've never even been in. Throw 'em back across the border, if they love it there so much .

Maybe it is different in Europe, but changing citizenship to me is like a religious conversion. You shouldn't hold on to your old life, you have been born again!

So if they dont support your football team in favour of their own or their parents, you want them all deported? Or just the kids?

I feel this way, too, however I also feel like that if some country/society did something for me, I owe it something. I am thinking about me renouncing my Russian citizenship for those reasons: Is the society that raised me in my early childhood completely dead? should I kling on to whatever elements that are left there?

I would never even think of supporting Russia against Israel, though . Supporting Russia against other teams is fine by me.
