Eh bien, c'est tres bon au l'Ouest Canada.
I'll claim 1.5. English, plus I can read french, write it fairly well, but I can't speak it at all. Very hard for me to hear.
Smatterings of Russian, Spanish, and German.

here are the rules
1. count your native language
2. you must be able to hold a reasonable conversation, read the newspaper, and write a commentary on a newspaper article
3. 'learning' a language means not being able to do one of those
4. you must be currently learning the language - i know a smattering of and can understand some of it, but i am not currently learning it, so it doesnt count.
5. you cannot be learning more then a language at a time
5. vote
The question should be "how many languages are you fluent in?" not speak.
ACK!
Don't try to confuse the issue with half-truths and gorilla dust!
And one would probably start of with "et alors" or "donc" and finish with "qua", one can't finish a sentence without it.
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?

That's fine, except the expression is "ca veut dire", not c'est veuz dire.
I'm glad you're not doing this on English posts too btw.

Donc, je ne suis pas certain le correct numbre des langues que je (scratches head for how to say should) repondre a ton question. (gad i mangled that and i know it)
put the nombre before the correct
use "dois" (I think that's the correct subjonctif form of doivre) for "should".
and finish with "qua", one can't finish a sentence without it.
with 'quoi' yeah its so hillarious, i put quoi at the end of half my sentences when i talk. also from the international student frenchies here at school ive picked up the 'eeeeeuuuuuuhhhhh' that you say whenever you are thinkng about what you are going to say next (america's uhhhhhh) so annoying that i love it.

That's what I wrote the first time, but it seemed too straightforward to be right.

Ca VEUT dire, CA VEUT dire .....
Of course it not an expression i would see written much, but can remember High school french teachers saying.

is hear that learning a 3rd language is a lot easier then a second. is that true?
Not for me, i have a tendency to toss in a Hebrew word when speaking french, or vice versa, apparently both are stored in the same part of my brain. Of course im not very good in either, so that may account for it.
I once read a book by some linguist that emphasized using historical language relationships to make language learning easier - it was fascinating about the Scandinavian languages esp, also Dutch and German, and made me think learning a Scandinavian language wouldnt be too hard IF i took the time.
Also, oddly, I have a tendency to break into French on the rare occasions when I get drunk. Once i was with some guys from work and started babbling in mangled, school boy French. Quite embarrassing. But I spoke French better than I do sober, I think. Some loss of inhibitions, I think?
