German with some effort. I did write my dissertation in German, but I still have trouble expressing myself clearly and without hesitation in German, hence the 0.5 for that language.

German of course. English, well decide yourself. Latin and French très peux seulement.
And I could follow, if Spanish people wouldn't always talk that fast. That makes 2,5-3.

And is Banana no language or what?!

It's far easier than writing English, that's for sure. I mean, when you're writing German, at least you have a clue as to what sound it makes

2 (english and french well enough to operate in either, though nobody will mistake me for a native french speaker)

I could also probably read a newspaper in Spanish and undertand it. Writing anything would be out of the question. It's been too long since high school.

As for the question, I speak Portuguese fluently and I'm reasonably good with English. I still want to learn French, German, Italian and Spanish. Oh, and Greek too.
I watched you fall. I think I pushed.

Well, I could read a newspaper in Spanish too, on second thought.

                                here are the rules

                                1. count your native language
                                2. you must be able to hold a reasonable conversation, read the newspaper, and write a commentary on a newspaper article
                                3. 'learning' a language means not being able to do one of those
                                4. you must be currently learning the language - i know a smattering of and can understand some of it, but i am not currently learning it, so it doesnt count.
                                5. you cannot be learning more then a language at a time
                                5. vote
I speak three languages fluently and can converse in two others for 'business purposes. I grew up bi lingual (Croatian/English). Learnt Indonesan/malay at uni and after uni did business french and shona courses because of work.

Having a slavic language under the belt also means I can understand a smattering of other slavic languages like russian.
