The reporter also said the US troops knew that they (she and escorts) were going to the airport to fly out.
Her personal vanity aside, no one at that check point likely knew who she was or which car she was in. Her constantly vain little remarks display the type of egotism of a person who thinks they can speed through check points, ignore hand signals & warning shots.
was the checkpoint clearly illuminated? or was it being set up or dismanteled ?
she says very clear that there were no bright light flashes before the shooting started and she is an eye witness after all. and the fact that you guys saying that she is lying doesn't make it so.
and on a side note, i wonder what all the righties would say when an american soldier was shot dead by an italian patrol...

While I'm not a rightie...
I'm not even sure it would be very newsworthy unless the US soldiers on the spot felt the Italians really badly screwed up. Otherwise the US military would downplay the story to the press. Honestly I think it would be viewed as a fairly minor news story, with the unfortunate part being the friendly fire aspect. The reality is that US soldier deaths get aknowledged, but usually are not major news in the US anymore.
In a separate development on Monday, the Bulgarian Defence Minister, Nikolai Svinarov, announced that a Bulgarian soldier killed last week in Iraq was the victim of "friendly fire".
"Someone started shooting at our patrol from the west, and in the same direction... there was a unit from the US army," Mr Svinarov told a press conference.
Given their long track record of these incidents, I find it very difficult to believe they weren't to blame.
Americans have had a long and bloody history of 'friendly fire' incidents...
It was probably some sub average IQ Hill Billy with a trigger happy finger. I bet when they fired at 'the engine block' they hosed it down on full auto...
Makes you wonder how many of these incidents are not reported when someone not so high profile is involved.
That reminds me of when I watched a friend of mine play Soldier of Fortune.
As he rushed in to a big room with bad guys, he was spraying bullets everywhere and while shooting he asked me:
"Am I supposed to kill these guys?
Oh... I killed them anyway..."
The enemy cannot push a button if you disable his hand.
Israel during intifada.
N. and S. Vietnam/Korea during respective wars. Face it, it was a silly diversion that also was wrong. It's not difficult.
Also, while my response was 11 words, your one there was 18 and the very next one was 15 words. Are you seroius?! I mean really? You want me to add 4 or 7 more words, or are you just being hyper?
so you agree that it's a little hypocritic to say that they were aiming at the engine when simply, that's something impossible?
No. While I can aim at an ant on your calf, I might end up shooting you in the ass since it's hard to shoot an ant. Why the arguing over stupid things? Is English a second language for many here or what?

BS statement. If you look to the left in the postings, you will notice that there are often a colored area. In a year or two you migth get into a class where you are learned geography and will find out that it's called flags representing different countries, where, strangely enough, several of these doesn't have english as first language.
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
It was a joke. I have not seen so many diversionary questions on a forum before! If you don't like an answer, offer your own facts up that counter it. Don't try to wriggle out of being wrong.
How can it be hypocritical to say you are aiming at something that is hard to hit? Perhaps English isn't a second language, but people REALLY need to know the definitions of the big words before they try using them.
Warzone - Sovereignty. Sigh...
Oh and BlackCat, I have been on here for slightly longer than you fish. Try your own advice and look...

Bad joke.
Yeah, ole boy, you have registred 11 days before me, but it's obvious that you haven't visited that often, otherwise you would have known that discussions don't go in straight lines here.
Btw. try to get the "Originally posted by XXX" part into your quotes - it make it a lot easier to find the original.

You're right. While many here can converse in English, perhaps it's just your lack of vocabulary that makes things "interesting". LOL!
It's funny that while you lecture me on seeing the left, you failed to see mine. Too funny! And while I rarely have posted in the past, I have been lurking since the get go.
I would use the quoted by, if I need to quote the entire thing. Nice advice though!

fact 1:
you cant aim the ant
fact 2: you know you cant aim the ant
fact 3: you claim that you aim at the ant
fact 4: you shoot me in the ass
what does that make you?

actually, it is
so lets open up the dictionary....
hypocrisy
n 1: an expression of agreement that is not supported by real conviction [syn: lip service] 2: insincerity by virtue of pretending to have qualities or beliefs that you do not really have

Why ? If you had done it, I instantly would have known that the person you quoted almost certainly has english as second language.

Why can't I aim at an ant? That makes no sense. I may not be able to SHOOT/HIT the ant, but I can sure as hell AIM at it. I wouldn't shoot you in the ass, it was an example of how it wasn't hypocritical.

Don't get me wrong, I respect anyone who has a command on two or more languages...even when you're wrong! And while I know the definition of hypocrisy, I don't see how them aiming at it is that...
