  • Anyone know that song Talking Heads song "Burning down the House"?
Any views I may express here are personal and certainly do not in any way reflect the views of my employer. Tis the rising of the moon..

Look, I just don't anymore, okay?

Because they booked their table after us, and there were other tables still free.

Essentially? You mean they didn't have the temerity to come right out and call them gay?
They would probably get kicked out for doing that, they just made not-so-subtle prods with obvious implications.

And what kind of scene did they make? They couldn't be praying could they?

      No, not so much praying.

Usually, in a loud voice, "Hey man, checking out the gay booth eh!", etc., while handing out a pamplet on repenting homosexuality.

They are perfectly permitted to do this sort of thing. After all, did they attempt to bar people from going to your display?
Not physically, but they no doubt prevented some people who were not out from going anywhere near it. Which was a major point of the display, to advocate our support services.

I guess MRT needs a job now and a way to get back into uni.
          That would be my action...

... if you are working, it's a LOT easier to find a place to live. Even if you are just "job hunting" rather than working, you will still meet people who might be able to tell you about accomodation.

Sitting on your arse is NOT an option.

Incidentally, being homeless isn't the end of the world. Spent 2 years of my life that way. I survived - most people do.

            • I was homeless for about a week when my old lease was up but the new lease didn't start for a week. I just crashed at various friends' houses though one night I had to sleep in my car (went to the gym in the morning to shower) and another night I had to go to a nearby state campground were I went "camping". At least the state campgrounds have nice warm showers.

              • Oerdin, Few summers ago when I was at this party, totally wasted, talking about starting drinking early noon, finishing the next morning, you know truckloads of booze, and I passed out in my car. I have no idea how I got there. THe car alarms were ringing every now and then, me inside, and they told me I didn't even wake up, they tried their best to wake me up . So you can say PASSED OUT and PWNED! So, can you guess the feeling, when the car was in the open, meaning the hot summer sun blazed right in and I was passed out, dehydrated without it? I'm telling you, it was one of the closest moments of me getting into full blown panic, because I realized I can't find me keys, and I can' topen the doors because of it, and that I'm very badly hung over and it's burning hot inside? Oh it was horrible. I was very close panicing.. then of course I found the keys inside the car and opened the doors and got out. I wasn't even able to stand up and get out, I had to roll slowly out, face first to the grass. I was in poor shape Of course, after few hours we continued drinking. One of the best weekends in my LIFE!

                • How can you not open a car door without a key? Just use the handle.

That doesn't work on a car with a decent alarm -- you'd need to disarm it with the key.

                        • Oerodin, can't do. I'm talking about CARs and ALARMs. Not tinbox car and matchbox alarms Again, it can backfire on you, for example if you drink too much, pass out in the car, and die in heatstroke if you lost the key. You see, I didn't lock the doors,.. well acutally I can't remember if I did, but even if I didn't, they would shut down automatically in like 3 minutes or so. Had I left my keys outside the car or me pockets, which I didn't at that moment know, I would have had no way out except to break out the ... windshield or something. While beign super weak and in panic and burning and heatstroking.

                          • so, i have a job now, with planusa (www.planusa.org). Doing the street fundraising, YIPPEE! Still havent found a place to live, but im saving as much as poissible.

I am also looking for another job, one that isnt so hard on the body and spirit. You wont believe how apathetic people are towards me. But i suppose thats the way it goes. Although i talked to a bunch of canadians that were very nice and helpful.

as for people giving me crap and being happy in my plight...ok, who cares? i dont see why misfortune for me would bring happiness or satisfaction. PH is the only one who really has legitimate beef, and if he wants to gloat, well it's his choice.
