I have to admit The E.R. usually does suck. Tuberski and I just sat in one for six hours 3 days ago for a pulled muscle in his groin. Id say they dont play favorites, since he was in the E.R. of the hospital he works at. All the while on the clock.

Since I cant say that thank you That is the whole reason I dont work the floor anymore. Im staying in the O.R. And believe me when I say this we are now able to write up Docs who waste the pateints time and the staffs Time I hope soon that the situation as far as the waiting for the O.R is soon reduced. I must say that in some cases a patient is scheduled behind another patient and the Dr. OOPs F**** up prolnging the surgery making the next patient wait. Then there are situations where some blood work or lab work needs to be tested again to make sure the patient can survive the surgery, hence more waiting, believe me when i say this i feel for all the surgical patients that are left waiting not only are they thirsty but hungry as well. But the consequence of us letting you eat or drink is risk of aspiration during your surgery. Which can cause death to you.

The fact that you try to take care of your patients and the patient and family members go behind your back and do things they are not supposed to. i.e One of my patient diagosis congestive heart failure.no fluids at all. Only cause it could kill him if he takes them. Family member brings fluids and gives it to paient and patient takes it. Hence making my job harder. Another example patient has blood pressure of 80/ 40 next to death, wants pain meds. all pain meds hes on will drop his blood pressure causing death. while im looking for the dr to find something to relieve his pain family gives pain meds from home man goes down, C.P.R. is started mean while my other 13 patients are ignored cause of this. thats what I hate.
Did you make it crystal clear to the familys what would happen? I'm not being critical, just curious. I know that the nurses who work for the county at the same STD clinic are jealous of the time that our nurses can take with the patients that are recruited to our studies.

With the risk of pissing off the fellow dr.s or medical personal everyone needs to have somebody in the field as a friend. This way you can know if the dr you are seeing is comptent. I know its slander if you say the person is a yada yada ya however Ive have seen some drs i wouldnt let work on my dead dog. As well as nurses.

Yes i did in both cases. I told these families that I am aware of the situatuon and let me find the dr to see what we can do. if you go around the specifications I gave you you can possible kill them. To take mesures in their own hands only worsens the situatuon. I explained to them i can empthysize with their agony however the easy soultion they wanted to fix their loved one could kill that indvidual.

I do realize it is hard to comfort a family member when somebody they love is that sick. And I know that a lot ofnon medical people think Im doing all that to be mean. In reality Im not trying to be mean, Im simply trying to preserve the patients life so he can go home to enjoy some more time with the family.

A lot of them do. The doctors dont work for the hospitals however the nurses do. The doctors are considered customers just as the patients. Which is a crock if you ask me. I have been cussed out by many surgeons and suspended many times for telling him to take a flying leap. As nurses we cant do a thing without a drs order, and if the order isnt there we have to wait for the doc to get back to us and call in the order. This goes for the smallest of small such as a glass of water, to an asprin, to whether the person can get out of bed.

I dislike patients who want sympathy rather than treatment.

I dislike patients who are noncomplient to treatment and think they have a degree in medicine.

                              Mrs. Tuberski:

I can't agree with you more about knowing the doctor who will be working with you.

Of course, I'm rather fortunate with my mom as a nurse, and my family doctor marrying into the family.

It just makes for better care.

So I'm wondering, are you a physician, and is this your real opinion, or are you just using it as an example of the attitude of the large numbers of useless burks who call themselves 'doctors'?
