History of Colonization: The Colonies 3.12 PBEM Game
The "troop movements" by the "prowler" is simply a French expidition of exploration, Marquise Bernadotte departed from the very northern point of north america in 1960 and now the expedition has reached the deep and un-explored jungles of Central America.
I officially apologize for the explorers who must have violated spanish territory whitout knowing so, perhaps an exchange of maps could prevent future misunderstandings of this type?
The intent was never to violate spanish territory.

It is not Messieur Bernadotte who offends me.

Lord Charles Monk writes to his Admiralty employers…
The Admiralty, Whitehall 1682
Taxes have been raised this year, but the Government has spent a lot of the monies raised on entertainments for the people, improvements to agriculture, reduction in corn prices and so on. The result is an improvement in the general attitude of the masses that the King finds most gratifying. The cities of London, Birmingham, Bristol, Norwich and Dublin are becoming veritable powerhouses of trade and industry, as their inhabitants pursue their various crafts and occasions with a will. Generally, our economic organisation is becoming ever more sophisticated.
As long as my tenants pay me plenty of rent to wager at the gaming tables – what do I care?
In the Caribbean, another colony has been founded for the greater glory of the English crown. The colonists have named it St. Kitts.
Cross-Atlantic trade is still proving a big source of gold for the Exchequer. Now, perhaps, the King will see why my father encouraged new settlements so much.

An Iroquios settlement found abandoned on the shores of Lake Ontario. It has now occupied and put into a state of defence as Fort Burgoyne. Further into the lake system, another settlement was found – and this time it was defended. However, our brave seamen took their cutlasses to the savages and chased them out of the area. Fort Abercromby has been founded in the vicinity, and there are many tall trees around about that will make splendid masts for our ships as well as stout palisades for our defences! Now the Iroquois have begged for peace, which our commander on the spot has granted. The red men tell us that their rivals the Huron have recently attacked the Dutch again…
The King has declared a competition – open to all men of science – to determine an accurate way to discover a ships’ longtitude. Such a discovery would be a huge boon to our navigators and increase our overseas trade even more.
I think this bug is due to the incorrect turn order in which we are playing this game.
The Dutch should play first, and in fact went second. The year changes every time the Dutch play, but all the other players are in a separate "year" to the Dutch. Maybe this is why conversation is impossible? My next scenario will include a time machine...
I have not been able to recreate this in a fresh multiplayer game, as long as the Dutch go first.
We can do most of your diplomacy for you, Chris. We cannot do the Indians, of course, and we cannot make Dutch gifts of money or tech. All trades will have to be from the non-Dutch end.
However, I would hate to have to restart this game as it is getting so interesting. We can start another, in parallel, if you fancy....
