You should try to get it while it's still around, that way you could play along with us. Do you have the scenario? We can describe what is happening if you have that frame of reference.

I knew you knew I knew....

Here's a quote I'm seriously thinking to use as my sig. But I'm not sure if it can be proposed here because I don't know who said it since it is written somewhere. The question would be where is it written and why.

          HINC·TOTI·PAX·INSONAT·ORBI

Yes it's Latin. Some of you could think what a mindtwisted guy am I but it's really easy specially to some regular posters of this forum.

My free translation to Spanish: Desde aquí la paz resuena en el mundo.

My (even more) free traslation to English: "From here the peace sounds to the world".

I know it has a lot to do with a certain event, but I'll let kIndal be the one to unveil it.

While Henrik thinks on a quote, I found another interesting one. This is a bit difficult:

"If we were to see Spain broken down as a result of a civil or international war, we would receive it with unsurpassable celebration. On the contrary, if we were to see Spain prospering, becoming greater day by day, we would preceive it as the worst possible of disgraces".

As it seems I'm not going to find anything using my search engines I'll try by analyzing carefully the quote:

-Who can take advantage of a broken Spain: France, England (Portugal?, USA?)...
-civil or international war, prospering: I think these expressions are relatively new, on the other hand there are not references to God... I would say it's dated from 18th cent.
-It seems to me it expresses a hope so I will say it was said before 1898 (even before 1802).

To sum up, I think it was said by a French Revolution Ideologist, Robespierre?

Excellent logical thinking! You're in the right path. But it was not a Frenchman

(It's a XIX c. quote, I think you made a mistake with the century, although you got the years right)
