  • To: Egypt, Macedonia
    From: Carthage

There is no point going back and forth like this. We view you allying with our enemy as a betrayal. When we offered peace, and you killed the messenger, did you honestly think we were going to surrender or something? And I don't want an alliance with you, I just want peace. If you continue to fight Carthage, you will lose, it is a certainty. We have more troops, more land, more people, more money, and most of all, more honour. Hamilcar Barca is now capable of eradicating the Egyptian presence on the planet, and yet you want me to give up things gained in the war? You are insane. It's not like we are even asking for land. Just let Hamilcar and his army leave, and let us have peace and end the destruction.

    • What, with 285 talents that rightfully belong to the Egyptian people? And more honor? The honor of backstabbers, traitors, and thieves.

Anyway, you say "We view you allying with our enemy as a betrayal." Are you refering to Persia? If so, Macedonia's been allied with Persia for a long, long time. We're not aiding or abetting Persia, except by trade, which we're doing with everybody. We'd even be happy to serve as a buffer zone between you and Persia, to try to decrease that conflict. We want peace, but that won't happen while the Egyptian people are under constant threat from the West. In any case, this banter is pointless- We'll settle for no deal that involves letting Barca leave with that money. We're happy to let him go, but the money stays.

The senatorial envoy trusts the Atheinians and takes only 50 of our best warriors as a personal guard. We hope this is ok.

                    • Actually, since I do the updates once all orders are in, it´s quite counter-productive to wait with orders till I rant about lazy players

                          • Lydian Orders

To Carthage: King Maeon has promised his people a fish in every pot. Um...would you like to sell us some fish? 5 talents worth of fresh Mediterranean Smelt.

To Bosporean Greeks: Thank you for your quick response to our needs of a few years ago. I would like to reward you with further profitable trade. We would be most happy to exchange your proud grains for our fine fabrics or marble (5 tallents worth please).

Praise for king Maeon and his many improvements took weeks to reach the capitol from the borders. Maeon listened with disgust to the mealy-mouthed simpering of his advisers. All they could do was plead for him to accept their excuses; the terrain is too rugged the mountains too tall. All the more reason that roads were so necessary. An empire can only be as strong as its roads he explained to them.

The army reforms pleased Maeon much. The Lydian army was no longer a force to be ashamed of, and he wanted the rest of the nation to feel this pride as well. The competitive nature of promotion had up to now been decided by informal games at each barracks, but Maeon beloved he could achieve much more if they were organized. Each army was organized into companies. These companies competed against each other and built camaraderie. The best companies from each army would face each other at the capitol for the King and his subjects. The victors having the honor of being King’s Champions for that year. At sea Maeon now felt confident in letting the navy loose on the remaining pirates and their bases.

                            46 talents:
                            • 20 talents - road construction and improvement with a focus on connecting our silver in the north. (split this between roads and mines if that’s what it will take)
                            • 15 talents - Build training facilities at each barracks and a stadium at the capitol.
Do you believe in Evil? The Nefarious Mr. Butts
The continuing saga of The Five Nations
A seductress, an evil priest, a young woman and The Barbarian King

We´d be interested in both, though 5 talents isn´t going to work for us.
We have little population and are generally used to a life under the canopy of heaven. The plains are wide and there´s much work to do for most of us. Some towns are home to several artists, of course, and there is an aristocratic settlement just outside Chersonesos, but their need for luxuries is very limited.

Our counteroffer thus cannot exceed 3 talents per turn for each of the both.
Furthermore, we need to constrain the import of timber to 6 talents, since the 8 talents paid before are too much of a burden for our economy. In exchange, we offer to sell colonial territory to you if you should wish so.

We thank you for this opportunity to bring honour to our people. Right now, there´s no challenge in Italy worth to be fought by the entire Spartan army; However, if you need help and have an occasional gold surplus to spend, just send us word
