Where confederate forces try to hole themselves up in urban areas, go around in fast movements to gain strategic ground in the advancing front while more troops surround the pockets, softening them up with artillery and attacking from all sides, forcing the pockets to either surrender or be caught in a hopeless situation. Also let it be known, though not officially, that even though looting and abuse of prisoners is discouraged even if pockets don't surrender, special care will be taken of the prisoners and towns if they surrender without U.S. troops having to fight for it.
Extend the front with the fast moving pocket technique (it will be practical most anywhere where the Confederates have inferior numbers) in addition to Arkansas and Tennessee, also into Oklahoma.
