  • Who was the other mafia?

    Comment

    • *sigh* I guess I can come out in the open now... enough mucking about, pretending to be grasping straws like a drowning man.

I was Mafia number one. The method was my own invention, by the way. Jamski came up with the word "superannuation" though.

On the first round I, by happenstance, murdered the first second Mafia, Tuberski. Jamski replaced him with Urban Ranger, who you went and executed the next round. Jamski told me this when I was the only Mafia left, much to my merriment. So my lucky streak did come back to me after failing me in the end of Gothica.

After that, I played you lot like an instrument. Too bad I didn't ponder my final kill better and off Theben instead, after all Theben was quite obviously innocent what with being quiet for almost a week. I guess I thought nobody'd notice (Jonny didn't, at least at first) and ADG would think he was trying to quiet Jonny, since Jonny was potentially going to vote Thubbuns. I was more interested in making the game go smoother than actually winning, and this was my reward.

Then again, I did purposefully not kill inactive people since, after all, a vote not cast is a vote not cast for yourself. In any case, this gave a lot of insight to the way a Mafia might or would think, my first time at it as it was, so unless you exterminate me to exact vengeance in the beginning of Mafia XVi, I'll be able to determine who it is as well if not better than ljcvetko.
Cake and grief counseling will be available at the conclusion of the test. Thank you for helping us help you help us all!

          • It surprises me how we never manage to get the Mafia until the final few rounds, or not at all. How can it be so difficult? I thought all the time that I had the scent of Mafia or something, and was sure for the first four rounds that I was going to get executed any time now. One would imagine that simple and pure chance would allow us to take out the Mafias early on every once in a while.

By the way, when I told Jamski my preferred methods of murdering before the game started, I said "an alien aging device I've acquired during my travels". Skanky was first to spot that out, drove me nuts trying to deflect that one.

            • You weren't the only one with a Mafia scent. I suspected UR immediately, but you flew under my radar, well played

And congratulations to the survivors, Theben and ADG!

              • If the clues aren't blatant (and they aren't) with 2 mafias the chances of 1 surviving to the last few rounds is higher than you think.

                • Here's the PM verbatim:

Spacing (throwing out of an airlock) would be rather nifty, but on a starship something like that would be both detectable and clunky to carry out. If you can write it in in a manner that fits the story backdrop, I'd prefer that.

Otherwise, I think I'll go with an exotic alien phaser (or a Federation prototype weapon) I've acquired during my travels that somehow dislocates the victim in the space-time continuum so that they age hundreds of years in a matter of seconds.
So now you know where he got the execution method from, too.

                  • Now is the time to publish the list of innocent people. I identified very early on that based on post stats rah, Zopperoni, Jonny, ADG and very likely Frozzy were innocent. Instead of publishing this, I informed a selected number of innocent people (rah, Zopperoni and ADG). Rah went berserk and I had to eliminate him in fear he would kill another innocent before the proper time.

During the game the innocence of Theben was confirmed, but until the last round I didn't really have a clear situation regarding post stats.

Certainly if new ones get appointed.

Yes, but still, it somehow baffles me that we haven't had any luck yet. Well, maybe next time.

AFAIK as long as no one else looks(opens the) at the thread, no footer shows up.

The problem is with the false clues (herrings). You never know until very late which clues are real. The breaker was the shuttle accident.

                              • The shuttle accident? That was hardly a clue to incriminate me, on the contrary. Who would want to vote off the loved Kassiopeia who managed to rid us of such a huge pain in the a...ft section?
