Do the Pope and CNN have something in common?. CNN frankly admitted that it shaded the news on the dictator Saddam Hussein because he had threatened CNN's people in Iraq. We recently saw the Pope strongly oppose the war in Iraq regardless of whether it was UN authorized. Could he have done this because he feared reprisals against Christians by Arab dictators and/or Moslems not only in Iraq, but arcross the world of Islam?..
If the answer to this question is yes, contrast his stand here with his stand he took against the Communists in Poland right after becoming Pope. There he exhibited the moral courage to stand up for what was right. Today it appears that the Pope has lost both the vision of what is right and his courage. The CNN analogy helps explain why Pope Pius XII said nothing about the horrors that where the Nazi regime. The "courageous" Pope Pius XII appeared to have been more concerned about is "flock" and probably about himself than he was in defending the helpless against the monster Hitler. Now Pope John Paul II has shown similar " courage" "when defending this the defenseless of Iraq up against the monster/dictator Saddam Hussein.
I used to admire Pope John Paul II. But now I say, "Down with Pope John Paul II." He has besmirched his own legacy.
