God bless america
God blesse america
Sous les ruines d'un dieu
On se souvient Masoud
Et les rêves de liberté
D'amour et de paix
God bless america
God blesse america
God bless america
God blesse america

What song is that please ?
Oh, and handmade translation :
Child of a failed generation
Who only thought to dream
Of white flags
Me, I want some nuclear
I want sex and blood,
Bombs in the mass transit
Even though I'm just a child
Child of a failed generation
Always in front of TV
We jerk off watching the bombings
Oh my god it is arousing
Me, I want some nuclear
I want sex and blood,
Bombs in the mass transit
Even though I'm just a child
Under the ruins of a world
We remember Massud
And the dreams we have had
Of love and peace
God bless america
God wound america*
Under the ruins of a God
We remember Massud
And the dreams of Freedom,
Of love and peace
God bless america
God wounds america
To open the eyes on capitalism
The ideal happiness
And all the spilled blood
Of billions of poor
Of billions of humans
But billions of Humans
Aren't worth a buck
TO open the eyes
On the poor good god
who didn't ask for anything
And who doesn't know his name
As he is so much lost
Among the horrors
His sons are committing
On behalf of ignorance
To open the eyes on the entire universe
To open the eyes and to close them at last
TO open the eyes and then to leave this world
For a better tomorrow
Me, I want some nuclear
Sex and blood,
Bombs in the mass transit
Even though I'm not a child
God bless america
God wounds america
*"blesser" in French meanst "to wound", so the usual "God bless America" phrase gives an easy pun.
Now that I've reread it and translated it, it really sounds like some semi-intellectual fashion song. Care to tell me what it is, please ?"I have been reading up on the universe and have come to the conclusion that the universe is a good thing." -- Dissident
"I never had the need to have a boner." -- Dissident
"I have never cut off my penis when I was upset over a girl." -- Dis

I'm genuinely sorry to hear that. But let me point out a couple of things.Originally posted by Spiffor
I must admit something. I am probably among the French people that get are the most exposed to Americans. I like almost all of you Yanks here, and the dislike I can have for the few others comes from purely personal reasons, NOT their nationality.
But I can't take the surrender jokes anymore. I can't take the consistent bashing my country suffers anymore. Call me paranoid if you want, but I think I'd get called "cheese-eating surrender monkey" at every corner of the street if I decide to go anywhere else in the US than NY. I grew to think I'd hear "go back to your country" once a day, because of my acute French accent.
It may be a misconception, and it certainly is. But it is a misconception i grew to have HERE, in this very forum, with the very people that post here. No particular names, such an impression comes from the collective posting, even though I acknowledge some people try their best to avoid the stupidity of French-bashing.
Americans may not know you have a french accent. After all, many of them couldnt point out France on a map. Secondly, while they may hate you today they'll forgive y'all and love y'all tomorrow. In my experience, and I've lived in quite a few places, Americans are the most friendly people on the planet. We need seperate human-only games for MP/PBEM that dont include the over-simplifications required to have a good AI

Sure. Apparently it's on the latest album of SAEZ http://www.damiensaez.com/. Haven't heard that album or the song.
But I saw some of his earlier video clips (Sauvez cette etoile and Jeune et Con) on TV5, really really liked them was checking for the lyrics and came across that song
Apparently he is already been critizised for offering easy cliche pseudo political "dishes" in his songs, but who cares, the first two songs I've heard were great
He's Algerian French, the Jeune et Con song is a must hear

This is precisely why I hate SaezOriginally posted by paiktis22
Basically it seems to me he's the Britney Speers of discontent.
. When someone advised me to listen to Jeune et Con, I thought he was a teenager experiencing his teenage crisis. He turned out to be an adult exploiting the gullibility of teenagers

SpencerH :
I want to believe you on that, and I would actually be enthusiastic at the idea of spending one or two months in the US once this despicable climate is over
Most of my friends who went there are very enthusiastic about the welcome they have got, and it got me interested into discovering the US without my parents.
But I'll wait both for the money and the end of this climate. I sure hope it'll end soon."I have been reading up on the universe and have come to the conclusion that the universe is a good thing." -- Dissident

Gullibility is nice sometimes. Do you really want to "dance around" to Thus Said Zarathustra instrumentalized?Originally posted by Spiffor

When did I say all? Majority, meanning the average joe, like there are everywhere...we established that.Originally posted by SpencerH
Actually the funniest part of your diatribe is that you seem to think that none of us have been to Canada. It may shock you to find that some of us have actually lived there. So with that in mind.
Still, no metal detectors. There may not be metal detectors in Canadian schools, I dont know, I dont care enough to find out for sure. That doesnt mean that there arent schools in every big city in Canada that should have them. I know there are uniformed security in some Canadian high-schools."Maybe, but we have none" (metal detectors in school)
Have you ever been to Montreal? Or have you seen pictures and chose which building was which? First of all, the Town hall, with its other buidings is in the Old Montreal which is a high class part of the city. If you can pay 1000$ for a 3 and a half take it, it's a good deal, so you can imagine that the crime rate there is REALLY low, one of the safest part of Montreal. So please tell me where those buildings you talk about are.Pull the other one. There are lots of places in Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal that I would not walk into without good reason. I can show you good spots to be mugged in within shouting distance of the parliment builidings.'Maybe so, but try doing that in a big city, here you can walk in any alley in Montreal without fear. '
About walking at night, I know some places are "dangerous", but dangerous is not on the same level as dangerous is in L.A.. My friend went to L.A. on business 3 years ago and he got robed twice in one week. Someone ran away with his jacket at a bus stop on the first day and he got taxed 3 days later for his breifcase and wallet comin back from a meeting...I know, talk about unlucky but still...it happened. Admit it, it's alot safer here "for now" than it is in the US in general, you cant deny that.
IMO americans are fatter than canadians. The fat police (aka we-know-better-than-you-and-will-tell-you-how-to-live-socialists) are not as active here.
Ah yes, and you know much about Montreal...Posted by ImranIt ain't hard to find that. In fact, 24 hour bars aren't that difficult to find either.
'That, I didn't know.'
Well thats a surprise! Guess you dont know as much about the USA as you think you do? Eh!
Atleast I dont admit stuff I dont know...

Yea well there's a difference between make fun of your friends about their nationality and morons on the street who don't like you because of your accent.Oh man that made me think: we were a bunch of students watching TV and there was an american with us. Though I liked the guy, had nothing personal... the TV had on some american braindead violence action movie, so I say to him: "so are you proud of your culture?"
And its a shame that the French are missing out on Boston. I happen to think Boston is one of the best U.S. cities around. When one is someone, why should one want to be something?

Whether montreal is safer than LA was not the point. You stated that "here you can walk in any alley in Montreal without fear". I havent been in Montreal since before you were born but St Catherines was a less than reputable place then and I'm reasonably sure it hasnt chnged that much since that time. So unless you're the re-incarnation of Bruce Lee you're stretching credulity a tad.Originally posted by Spec

I typed up a long post replying to too many posts in this thead, but then I realized......
Why contribute to the senseless hatred?
To the US: You need to get over the French standing up for what they believe. Stop acting like little children by renaming stuff "Freedom fries" and essentially saying "Well, since you wont play it my way, I wont be friends with YOU anymore. I'll be friends with LITHUANIA. Neener neener neener!!!!". I'm sorry but for the people of a superpower to be acting like this is both terrible embarassing (sp) and disturbing and don't even get me started on when it goes to government level.
You guys need Clinton back
To France: Stop acting as if your morally superior in any way because France is NOT. You guys have commited your fair share of atrocities and while you feel guilty for them, stop pretending that your superior in any way.
To everyone: Just stop the mindless, childish hatred of one-another. Part of the reason that (dont laugh) adults can have sex and children can't is because adults are seen as MORE MATURE and able to make such a large decision. So instead of (on the French side) ACTING more mature, (to the Americans) BE more mature.
Mindless hatred has caused too many wars and even if those wars happend hundreds of years ago, they still have an affect on us today.
Also, we need to make sure we distinguish the government from the people. Americans are ignorant, but they are very friendly people (if you can forgive the uber-patriotism). While the French generally are more intelligent, they also are (generally) snobbier than Americans.
Accept your strengths, accept your differences, and most of all: ACCEPT YOUR WEAKNESSES.
