  • If I had understood correctly, the policy that's being put into place in Washington is to :
    - punish the French
    - ignore the Germans
    - forgive the Russians.
Well, that's what I heard on French TV, so it is obviously biased, but I wonder what truth exactly there is behind these words. Anyone can tell me what is said in the US about this issue ?

No! If you want to avoid being hated worldwide, I suggest that you quit posting in international forums. You have been on a several page temper tantrum, and if you were doing this anywhere near me I would give you a spanking.

As far as I know, there is no policy being put into place in Washington on this issue. I'm sure the Administration has plans for the future, but no one knows what they are or how they will treat the various members of the Axis of Weasel. All the actions against France have been taken at the grassroots level, by angry American citizens.

          • It would be very unwise of the US-Goverment to put pressure on the French. I think a lot of countries would think something like, today France, tomorrow ?

            And unite.

Wrong. For the last 12 years, never has the war opposition had the majority.

Why do some always repeat this untruth?

                • ooohhh yago, really? ya think so?

Spiffor, the French led the effort, they have the permanant seat and said that they would veto...no matter what the coalition came up with. They actively worked against us in the security council, preventing the coalition from getting the majority. Also, the French have the history in NATO of a bunch of *****es, and obstructed the deployment of defensive anti missiles to Turkey.

Then you have all those wonderful quotes of Chirac we were bombarded with almost daily.

Many Americans got DEEPLY pissed. I told you a while back that you didn't understand the depth of feeling here in the US. You blew me off. Now you bigin to understand I see.

This will not pass for a long, long time. Decades. Mark my words.

                  • lancerino,
why did the americans got really pissed?

I think it is because they perceived Iraq as a threat to them (through international terrorism?) and felt that France is obstracting them to deal with a threat that puts american lives at jeopardy.

                    Is this the case?

(because there's no question they got pissed)

                    • 1/3 of all French not only opposed the war, but WANTED SADDAM TO WIN. This was reported as a French poll.

                        • edit: thanks for the answer.

In your dreams about Turkey... There's fantasy and there's reality.

I hardly see US invading Turkey Cutting some of the geopolitical clout that Turkey's been getting thanks to the US, sure, it's supposed to be happening.

                              • What's the difference between the Turks action in Cyprus and the Iraqi action against the Kurds, or their own Shi'ites?

paiktis, you recall all those UN resolutions? The cease fire agreement Saddam violated? The WMD...

The reason you gave, yes. Like I said though, only in part, meaning there are lots of other reasons that also apply.
