PS for CyberGnu: Careful, they ban on these boards for making anti-nazi references.

Still sulking from the genetic engineering thread?

I love when Rumsfeld ****s with reporters too, BTW. But I'm having more fun threadjacking.

Rummy a hero? When the US war plan was being criticised, what did Rummy do? He immediately starts pointing the finger at Gen. Franks and told the world that it was Frank's plan from start to finish. In other words, if things go really wrong, blame Frank, not me.

              Talk about a gutless wonder.

                what was that about?

the moral consequences of improving human genetics through genetic engineering, after the remark made by Watson. I called it 'Apolyton Eugenics' or something like that, to draw attention. He was pissed off, and said something like "we should weed out all jewish genes", Ming banned him. It's easy to dig up, I don't post too many threads.

Hmm, wouldn't that be a "nazi reference" and not a "anti-nazi"? ah, wait, he meant it to be sarcastic, right? Makes sense, then. thanks

Irony and sarcasm were never Ming's strong point.

I think Rumsfeld is a true genius. He seems to be forcing a reluctant military to think and be creative. The Iraq war plan was Franks, of course. But it was shaped by Rumsfeld who insisted, according to reports, on heavy use of Special Forces and speed vs. power on the ground attack. The full story will be told in due course.

I understand that Rumsfeld was pretty unpopular in the military no long ago. I bet that skepticism has turned, at least, into grudging respect.

As to his public statements, they are carefully given and precise. He responds to questions with humor and intelligence. I do not recall a more intelligent high-level official since Kissinger.

So, yes, Rumsfeld is my hero. A truly great Sec. of Def.

I was more astounded than mad. That a Jew of all people should advocate using eugenics to try and remove 'undesirable' genes from the genepool seems a little beyond the pale. You may remember what a similar idea once led to.

But this is way off-topic. I suggest you resurrect the other thread if you want to discuss it further, rather than using this one. Hey, I will even be able to contribute to the discussion this time!

Militarily, I agree. The problem comes when we allow him to shape public policy...
