Around 150 children spilled out of the jail after the gates were opened as a US military Humvee vehicle approached, Lieutenant Colonel Fred Padilla told an AFP correspondent travelling with the Marines 5th Regiment.


"Hundreds of kids were swarming us and kissing us," Padilla said.

The Iraqi mother does not know how (can't) to protect her children. Coalition bombarider (plane) threw a bomb in the center of bagdat and 14 people from 2 famlilies were killed. From the explosion a crater of 15 meter wide and 8 deep was created. the bomb fell on 4 houses near the boyulvard of ramazan in the district al mansur. 9 of the dead are members of one (single) family. Two are children.

It is fantastic to have the divergence of opinion that exists on the OTF here. Many, many insightful people bring life to both sides of a debate. For the most part, people try to stick to the facts and their views of them. As long as this continues, this forum should continue to grow (as Ming assures us it is.).

I didn't say I wish any Americans to die by suicide attacks. However hybris is always followed by tragedy and irony comes with it. When you have the audacity to support such a bloody agression with shameless lies, then expect the revenge of the despaired. And remember that pityless people do not get any pity back when they meet their fate.

I aknowledge that many Americans and other war supporters are being misled. But the stance of some among them is so audacious, that there is no explaination about it, other than a combination of sheer egoism and sadism, which are products of some unknown fascizing process.

No wonder I rarely post OT, the great debates have come by and the old guard isn't that interested in regurgitating them every time a new poster brings them up.
During the last two years the standpoints also have become more extreme and less understanding. In fact, OT is turning into a Newsmax-light before my very eyes. Were it not for goodnatured posters with some wit like AH and a select group I wouldn't even bother to check out OT at all.

I have found that this war makes for difficult discussions in real life. I'm trying to get my head around it, so I can't help bringing it up (unlike religion or general politics). But then, I typically regret discussing it as differing views generally just result in ill-feeling and little increase in understanding.

At least with OT, you get a bit further - though I've just decided to make entries in my ignore list for the first time.
