Yet you won't fly the American flag because it supports Bush? Don't forget Americans are going to die for Bush's war as well. But I guess its always ok for Americans to die, and Jews.

Do not laugh! Coalition troops have captured Umm-Quasr for fifth time.

There is no Iraqi resistance in area. Just, the coalition likes the very process.

Yes, the crash was due to technical reasons, not due to hostile fire.

Iraqi's AAA do not act in full power up to now. Most probably, Saddam is going to defend capital regions and keeping his best troops out of US revenge.

Who started this war/ Who is agressor?
Americans disagreed with their president? News to me. Recent polls shows that majority of Americans support their president and his actions.
I don't fly American flag because in current circumstanses it's flag of country-agressor. The flag of country who just invaded another country and will kill hell knows how many people.

It was. May be you didn't hear about it, but the NATO attack on Serbia wasn't any more popular than the US led aggression on Iraq. I am not a friend of butchers like Milosevic and Saddam. With them hanging on the next tree the world would be a better place. However, I can't see the US or the NATO making things better.

On the Balkans, the alliance actively supported a terrorist organization (KLA/UCK) and didn't end ethnic cleansing and genocide, but merely switched the suffering side. Instead of the Bosnian or Albanian people now the Serbians were expelled from their homes and many were murdered without any action of the so called peacekeepers. I am sad and ashamed, that my country took part in this disaster.

The United States and their lackeys have yet to show, that they'll do better in Iraq.

One thing this issue has shown is the true colors of many people and nations. The UN is a sad joke who can't enforce diddly. How dare the Pope condem Bush how dare he condem Bush.
Bugger! Now Bush can't say that "God is with us". He's rather against.

Where o where o where was THE POPE WHEN SADDAM ATTACKE IRAN, KUWAIT, AND GASSED ALL THOSE KURDS. Where was world condemnation of these acts.
The Pope did not sell Weapons, including WoMDs to Saddam. The United States and many of their former and still existing allies did. And the World did condemn Saddams crimes.

Saddam is an evil man who is a danger to the world and he must go. Pointe Final...
I agree. However, to remove him is not the business of the United States, but the Iraqi people.

                    • I agree Sir Ralph that the Balkans war was not popular with world opinion however world opinion was not as intense as it is now over the Iraq issue. I am sorry to hear about the mess in Serbia that the USA and Nato left behind. I was not aware of the aftermath. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

All we can do now is wait and see how the USA handles itself in post war Iraq. I hope that no mistakes are made and we help the innocent and not abandon them.

The world did indeed condem Saddams crimes but why is it they never did anything about punishing him? 12 years of sanctions and inspections that were never really enforced did the trick though.....

The world is changing and I want only good for humanity and if that means punishing evil people so be it. I am sorry that we cannot agree but that doesn't mean I hate you. Haupt. Dietrich, next time before post something about American agression against Yougoslavia, it would be good if you knew background of this conflict, how Americans fought during this conflict, and what they left after this conflict. Reading your post I had feeling that you are terribly proud of Clinton's administration's actions and that everyone and first of all people of Yougoslavia should praise USA for this agression. Ask people who live there like LaRusso for example what do they think about glorious American liberators, and how much they grateful for American bombardments.

No problem and thank you for clearing up the feelings about the Serbian people in Yugoslavia. I can totally understand why they would hate the USA for what they did. I am not a big fan of Clinton but was using him to illustrate my point about Bush. Anyway if you want my true feelings on the matter I believe that the USA should not get involved in world affairs period. It would keep us out of so much trouble and it would hopefully keep the terrorists from attacking us.

But how would the world effectively deal with tyrants such as Saddam or any other evil dictator who tried to harm other peoples? I think the UN needs to find a way to enforce it's laws somehow.

Iraq Fires Scud Missiles at Kuwait
                            1 hour, 36 minutes ago

                            By William Maclean

KUWAIT (Reuters) - Iraq (news - web sites) fired Scud missiles at Kuwait on Thursday, officials said, sending U.S. troops scrambling into chemical protective suits and setting air raid sirens blaring in Kuwait City.

A Kuwaiti defense ministry spokesman said a U.S. Patriot anti-missile defense battery brought down two Iraqi Scuds, intercepting one with three Patriot missiles and the other with a single Patriot.

Neither missile was believed to have been carrying chemical or biological weapons, a Kuwait Interior Ministry official told Reuters.

A British spokesman at a joint U.S.-British military headquarters in Qatar confirmed that Iraq had fired at least one Scud, and said it was suspected a second had also been launched.

"One (Scud) was knocked by a Patriot system. Where the debris landed I'm not sure. The debris is being investigated at this moment. What we can say is there are no casualties," the spokesman said.

"They were closer (to U.S. and British troops) than you'd like, but not desperately close," he said.

Iraqi Information Minister Mohammed Saeed al-Sahaf denied that Baghdad had any Scuds. The Soviet-designed missiles have a range of up to 400 miles, exceeding the 90-mile maximum limit imposed on Iraq after the 1991 Gulf war.

"I heard reports that we fired Scud missiles on Kuwait. I would like to tell you that we don't have Scud missiles and why they were fired, I don't know," Sahaf told reporters in Baghdad.

Earlier on Thursday Iraq fired two other missiles into Kuwait's northern desert, but Kuwaiti officials described these weapons as smaller, Chinese-made missiles. The British spokesman said Iraq had fired two Seersucker anti-ship missiles.

                            TROOPS STRUGGLE WITH PROTECTIVE GEAR

As word of the missile attacks came through, U.S. troops arrayed in northern Kuwait for an invasion of Iraq were given a "bunker call" to shelter from possible unconventional attack, reporters attached to the units said.

Soldiers were told there was an incoming Scud and were ordered to move to the highest level of biochemical protection, donning their protective suits, gas masks, gloves and boots and taking up an attack position.

Troops struggled to don the bulky protective gear and hunkered down in foxholes dug into the Kuwaiti desert.

Ten minutes later they were given the all-clear. Officers said it was not clear whether the alert was a drill or whether it had been prompted by an incoming Scud.

In Kuwait City, emergency air raid sirens blared three times during the day, each time followed by an all-clear signal.

A security official told Reuters that the city had not been hit by any Iraqi attack but added that unspecified blasts in the desert had echoed through the streets and unsettled residents.

At the Hilton Hotel, base for the military media operation in Kuwait, staff, guests and military personnel rushed to a basement shelter as the alert alarm wailed. U.S. and British soldiers donned gas masks and the press center was evacuated.

A U.S. Army spokesman, Major Max Blumenfeld, described it as a Scud drill: "I can tell you that as a military person, we're trained, we're ready, for any possibility. We know what to do."

The missile attacks heralded Iraq's retaliation after the United States bombed Baghdad early on Thursday, launching a war that President Bush (news - web sites) has vowed will topple President Saddam Hussein (news - web sites).

Although Iraq denies having Scuds, a British government report released in September 2002 said Saddam had retained up to 20 of the missiles following the Gulf War.

Other analysts have estimated Iraq retained between 12 and 25 of the missiles, which would be capable of reaching nations including Israel, Saudi Arabia, Cyprus, Turkey and Iran.

Baghdad had been destroying its stock of al-Samoud missiles, a successor to the Scud, under the eyes of United Nations (news - web sites) weapons inspectors. As of this week Iraq had scrapped about 70 of its 120 al-Samouds, which also exceed the 150-km range limit imposed by the United Nations.

                            • All these launches on Kuwait are quite annoying for Israeli anti-missiles batteries. Everytime a launch is detected they all go to full alert, which happened a few times today, once in the middle of a press conference.
