“Now we declare… that the law-making power or the first and real effective source of law is the people or the body of citizens or the prevailing part of the people according to its election or its will expressed in general convention by vote, commanding or deciding that something be done or omitted in regard to human civil acts under penalty or temporal punishment….” (Marsilius of Padua, „Defensor Pacis“, AD 1324)

All those who whine about patliament not representing their views need to think aboy the death penalty.
The majority of people in the UK support the restoration of the death penalty. However parliament refuses to intorduce it.
The majority of the anti war protestors would be anti-death penalty(in the UK) and they would agree with parliament not intorducing it because it would be pandering to the masses.
Why now then is parlaiment suddenly undemocraticSpace is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind- bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.

Then why do they let dead people vote in Chicago? Is that just a happy tradition?“Now we declare… that the law-making power or the first and real effective source of law is the people or the body of citizens or the prevailing part of the people according to its election or its will expressed in general convention by vote, commanding or deciding that something be done or omitted in regard to human civil acts under penalty or temporal punishment….” (Marsilius of Padua, „Defensor Pacis“, AD 1324)

Ah, so they don't actually vote, they're just on the lists.

Dice?“Now we declare… that the law-making power or the first and real effective source of law is the people or the body of citizens or the prevailing part of the people according to its election or its will expressed in general convention by vote, commanding or deciding that something be done or omitted in regard to human civil acts under penalty or temporal punishment….” (Marsilius of Padua, „Defensor Pacis“, AD 1324)

In a vote on a possible war last month, 122 Labor lawmakers voted against the government -- the biggest revolt since Labour came to power in 1997.
Opposition support
Iain Duncan Smith, leader of the main opposition Conservative Party, said he would back the government line because it was "in the British interest."
Blair suffered early setbacks prior to Tuesday's session with the resignation Monday of senior Cabinet minister Robin Cook, from his post as leader of the House of Commons.
Cook, a former British foreign secretary, told a packed parliament he could not support a war without international agreement or domestic support. (Cook speech)
Lord Hunt, a junior health minister in the House of Lords, the upper chamber, and Home Office Minister John Denham announced their resignations Tuesday.
Duncan Smith suffered three resignations from his front bench, including shadow environment minister Jonathan Sayeed, shadow home affairs minister Humfrey Malins, and shadow health minister John Baron.
Damn! I wish Canada had a parliament like that. Opposition supporting the PM because they thought he was right, not just nay saying to grab headlines. Resignations on both sides of the isle. MPs voting on principle and telling their leaders to stuff it. It would be glorious!
*sniff*
Maybe, some day...(\__/)

"By incorrectly informing us of how the Republicans fix Chicago?"
Where tf did you read that one again?
And yes, the Commons was Parliamentarism in action as it should be.“Now we declare… that the law-making power or the first and real effective source of law is the people or the body of citizens or the prevailing part of the people according to its election or its will expressed in general convention by vote, commanding or deciding that something be done or omitted in regard to human civil acts under penalty or temporal punishment….” (Marsilius of Padua, „Defensor Pacis“, AD 1324)

You know that there is a difference between Republicans and Repubicrats, don't you?“Now we declare… that the law-making power or the first and real effective source of law is the people or the body of citizens or the prevailing part of the people according to its election or its will expressed in general convention by vote, commanding or deciding that something be done or omitted in regard to human civil acts under penalty or temporal punishment….” (Marsilius of Padua, „Defensor Pacis“, AD 1324)
