The Democrats feel that running anybody with a sound ideology and clear ideas for the future simply wouldn't be sporting, given the opposition.

that the Democrats either can't find a really good candidate

Almost everybody and their brother is running for the Democratic nomination. It might even be the most ever for any party.

Given this, wouldn't it be pathetic if they couldn't field somebody of high caliber?
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

Dean is my choice. I don't think Bush would be able to "maul" him any more than, say, Kerry. The only issue he could really use different from other Dems would be Vermont's domestic partnership bill, which wouldn't be a good idea, IMO.

My hunch is Braun was egged into running partly by other Dems to split the black vote that Sharpton is trying to win. I'm not so sure this will be effective, since I don't the same kind of voters would support them.

I'm using the most important criteria - what do they look like. Clark looks the most presidential. But on the other hand...

                That's just wrong.
"Spirit merges with matter to sanctify the universe. Matter transcends to return to spirit. The interchangeability of matter and spirit means the starlit magic of the outermost life of our universe becomes the soul-light magic of the innermost life of our self." - Dennis Kucinich, candidate for the U. S. presidency

I think a Dean or a Clark would take a lot of the middle voters away from Bush. Many of the others may be considered as too entrenched in the status quo.

Dean is for socialized health care. Is everybody cool with that?

I didnt say I would vote for him

Clark on the other hand I would consider voting for if and when he ever lets his views out.

Don't know. Clark hasn't even announced his party, so he's a little hypothetical at this point.
