  • Malta first to vote on EU membership

the results will be published sunday evening.

I don't know if Malta would benefit from EU membership. With a pop of 400 000 their influence will be close to nil.

I read somwhere that their trade with North Africa and especially Libya would suffer if they join?

    should Malta join?

I wouldn't mind. Malta is a nice place. Very small, but nice! All those knights and stuff.. open the borders!

$20 that France will come up with some new benchmark to keep malta out of the EU for a couple more years. I've been noticing this trend from paris for awhile.

nah, France is pro expansion and Malta is more than qualified enough.

but is it really in malta's best interest to join? many maltese think it's best if they "do a switzerland"

Yeah! Go Malta! It's such a nice place.. maybe I should marry someone from Malta, would be cool to live in such a small country, and there should be lots of babes.

I have to be honest though, I don't know what Malta gains for joining EU. I think it's still good, but I don't know if it's good for Malta. Voting rates where little over 90%, that's pretty high though. I really do hope, that they get equal power in EU and not be treated like a child. I hope they get all the power the big ones get.

Malta never knew what hit 'er.

I heard that Malta can't keep a prolife policy, and that some of the money they send to the EU will fund 'reproductive services.'

Actually, Malta has managed to secure around 70 special exemptions in order to make EU membership more acceptable to it's citizens.

I think that ultimately it'll turn out OK for them.

Can't wait to see their faces when they'll join the Euro as well and will have to pay 10$ for about everything
I will never understand why some people on Apolyton find you so clever. You're predictable, mundane, and a google-whore and the most observant of us all know this. Your battles of "wits" rely on obscurity and whenever you fail to find something sufficiently obscure, like this, you just act like a 5 year old. Congratulations, molly.
